I have never tracked what I have eaten. I have always eaten anything that I wanted - whenever I wanted to... So, can I be surprised that as I aged (and became injured) that I gained weight? Yes and No.

My mother is skinny, my father was fat. Before 35, all of my brothers, sisters, and myself, were thin. Sports are not an uncommon thing to us - especially hiking in the mountains. I thought of myself as"like my mother". So when I injured my knees, wasn't I surprised to find out that I was "like my father". Bottom line - I gained 35 pounds over 15 years. The last 5 lbs happened between May and now.

Why? Well, bad diet for one thing. Hopefully, this tracker will show me where I have gone wrong and set me on the right path.

What have I found after 1 week - I eat mostly carbs and a 1200 calorie diet is starving me. My wieght is fluctuating all over the place on the goal of losing 25 lbs.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Only thing I found on a 1200cal diet.. is that at first my weight dropped... about 25lbs which brought me to 195lbs, and then it would fluctuate between 195lbs and 205lbs. But that was because I would have a day or 2 where I would eat whatever. But once I stayed on track I stayed at 195lbs and it wouldnt budge... I started to not keep track again and would eat between 1400-1600 cals a day and started to loose the pounds again... I now eat 1400 and am losing weight again... 1200 was not enough for my body.
  • I have about 75 pounds to lose (lost 2 in my 1st week) and I put my details into the computer and it came up with the calories for me to have which is about 1403 and I am managing fine.

I am also doing extra exercise and am even starting to enjoy it and I gain extra calories at the extra time although I do not always eat the extra calories from exercising.

I see that this thread is almost a week old, but please eat the calories given to you by exercise. Read this thread, there are many successful weight-loss people who have posted on these threads. (There are 10 or so different threads on this one page.)
