Ok, I am so confused by whats going on with my body. I had a baby 6months ago and I have been working out since we were 10 weeks post. I had to cut out dairy in the begining because Im nursing and my baby had an intolerence to dairy. I started out doing 4 days a week with turbo jam, next week I did 5 days workout, turbo jam( I use the weighted gloves for turbo jam) for 4 and then the elipical for the other day. I burned 400-600 calories a workout. I wasn't counting calories durring this time and lost 4 lbs. So I decided I wanted to get back to p90x. ( i had done it before I got preggo and lost weight) Everything was going great the only problem I had was It would take me an hour and a half to get through a 60 min workout because my baby would fuss and need fed, diaper change ect. At around the 4th week I haddn't lost but 2 pounds but I had lost inches. The 5th week I was so tired I decided to do a week of not so extream workout and realized with nursing and the amount of calories I was burning (600-880) for most of the week I wasn't eating enough. I was eating 1200-1400 calories) So I bummped up my calories and tried to get 1500 in a day which was hard since I had to find non dairy foods. Finished p90x without much more lost. Last month I was able to eat dairy and added a protein shake to my diet. Started 30 day shred last week. Doing that I burn 400 calories and this week I feel so tired I didn't workout today. Im not sure why I can't even lose 10 pounds! Some of the things that worked for me before aren't working now and Im not sure why my body is hanging on to this weight. I feel I should have at least lost 15pounds by now!! Anybody have any ideas or advice?

How much solid sleep are you getting? Just curious - lack of sleep can really mess with your metabolism and how you process sugar.0

Getting tons! like 7-9 hours. Baby sleeps from 7p to 6am and sometimes until 7am! And Im drinking 99oz of water per day to!0

have you checked your iron. you could be anemic which is indicated by exhaustion. try taking a prenatal multivitamin and see if it improves. take it since it had higher concentrations of iron.0

So you know that by nursing alone you burn thru 300-500 calories, just making milk! THEN doing your workouts, you burn thru 400-600 calories a workout! Your body is probably in starvation mode and it's keeping what it can so it can make milk for your baby. I'd probably add 300 calories to whatever MFP is telling you to consume to maintain. Do that for a couple weeks and get your body back to normal and then start in again. AND add that 300 calories that MFP tells you to consume to lose, at least until you're done nursing.0

I have thought about the low iron thing, I do take a prenatal every day!0

How much are you nursing? The recommended advice is to add in 500 calories for exclusive nursing... and a bit less than that once baby is on solids and you aren't nursing as much (when I did WW, the recommendation was an extra 50 calories per nursing session, I think, once baby was on solids). Based on what you are saying, I don't think you are eating enough. I know it seems like a lot of calories, but I'd try to NET 1700 or a little less if baby is eating solids or you aren't exclusively nursing. I also know that is hard when you are eating healthy foods (and I can't imagine doing it without dairy!) Some good, nutritious ways to up calories -- avocado, olive oil (on veggies, cook with, stir in oatmeal), peanut butter or nuts, higher calorie fruits (bananas, dried fruits like raisins or dried cranberries).0

we nurse every 2-3 hours in the day. And we are on solids to. We stop nursing at around 7pm for the night. MFP says I should eat 1573 cals per day. I try to get that in. I was eating oatmeal last week and that made me really hungry not sure if its because it also helps you make milk! We were eating peppers and brocclli but they made my baby fussy!! I do put peanut butter or almond butter in my protein shake. I get so frustrated with it I just want to go eat crap!0

my favorite way to get some extra calories in there is to chomp on walnuts. most of the nut companies now have like coca roasted almonds, too. yummy!
and i know this is a little odd, but that oatmeal (which, by the way, IS making you hungry because it affects both your metabolism and your milk production) can get a few extra calories in by just adding a jar of baby food. i like blueberries and bananas myself. it was my solution when my son started refusing baby food and i couldn't decide how to get rid of it.
oh, chocolate milk is pretty calorie-rich, too. plus, i've heard it's a good post-workout snack with the protein and stuff.0 -
lovelysnugs, thats too funny about the baby food! I have been eating the chocolate mint almonds they are pretty tasty!
Thank you all for the advice. I think I may slow down and get my iron checked and try to eat more! I did read somewhere not to go under 1800 calories for nursing. I feel horrible if I don't do some sort of workout!0 -

If you do work out, just eat it back, I know how you feel, working out makes me feel great afterward! Even a fruit smoothie would help you add those calories back on, and it's all good for you! I think I remember you saying baby can't do milk, but you could do apple juice with the fruit to make it more drinkable. I had a sensitive baby too, so I know your pain! it was so hard to avoid my favorite foods just so I had a happy and healthy baby!0 -
so I bummped up my calories for the past few days and I have gained 3lbs. Im thinking its just my body thinking it need to hang on to them since I haddn't been eating enough! i have noticed my boobs are fuller in the am now. My problem is at night I get sooo hungry after dinner and I don't want to eat two hours before bed and I also heard you shouldn't eat fruit after a certain time of day. So im trying to find filling foods I can eat for the time of night. Last night I had a protein bar and my body blew through that in a bout an hour so I had a turkey sandwich. Little carbs with some protein!!!0
