For anyone who is wondering "What should my goal weight be?"

I know that a lot of people on here are just taking a guess at what their ending goal weight should be. Many people shoot for their high school weight or their pre-pregnancy weight, but this may not be a realistic goal in terms of lean body mass and your body fat percentage.
I think I have found an accurate way for many of us to determine an *ideal* weight, based on frame and body fat percentage.
First, you need to calculate your body fat percentage, via http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/203586-body-fat-equation-check-this-out . Thank you to the poster! This was a simple and free way of getting a pretty good idea of my body fat percentage.
Next, check out this website: http://www.healthchecksystems.com/bodyfat.htm . It has a great explanation for why some weight loss goals are simply unhealthy or out of reach while maintaining as much lean body mass as possible.
My original goal weight was 145 (I started at 165 and just though 20 pounds sounded okay), but after using these calculations, I learned that it will be healthier for my goal to be 150, with a body fat percentage of about 23%.
I hope this will help someone find an attainable goal weight, not just somewhere they think is good. Good luck everyone

it means either that you want to be able to find the thread again in your My Topics tab at the top of the message boards page, or you want to "bump" the thread to the top of the list so others will see it.0
