Having only recently returned to MFP, im a bit clueless on some things, lacking in others and still trying to kick an old habit out.

But i was looking for two pieces of advice....

a) The best way to burn the stomach fat? (This is my main issue, with a week exercise i already see an improvement in everywhere but here) I want to loose this as its always been the body hang up and the reason i want to loose weight....

and

b) the best type of music to work out too? Anyone got any favourite workout songs? I need songs that will help me move and motivate, but also ones that will help during the warm down and for strength exercies.

Thank you for your help in advance :)

Stomach fat is the worst thing to get rid of, and honestly I believe the only way to burn that fat is through your diet, doesn't matter how much cardio you do or how many crunches...at the end of the day a woman's body holds onto abdominal fat as if your life depends on it, its the last to go, and usually only goes if you eat the right foods in the right combinations along with regular exercise.

From experience the belly fat is usually the last thing to go. My husband lost 35 lbs and his belly was last to go and I am just now seeing a difference in my belly after about 12 lbs lost. I did find a video on Youtube that I thought was very good. It really works your abs, legs, back and shoulder muscles. The link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9ucbo_fx64. You might check it out.

Music: I have to listen to something really uptempo when I exercise. I found that I exercise harder/faster when I am into the music. If it is slow songs I tend to slow down. Rhapsody has some workout playslist you should be able to check out. If not just Google workout playlists and see what you come up with.

    Best of Luck,
    Christina

You have fat all over your body, not just the stomach and you cannot isolate the fat around your stomach. The only way to do this is to lose bodyfat all over by exercise. Your body will cling to it for dear life and its the last place to drop off but with a combination of good nutrition and exercise, its certainly do-able.

I agree, even if u work ur arseoff, literally, if ur chowing down ull end up like an apple shape cos ur mid section will hold it....
the only music i work out to is dance music/clubby music with continous beats the songs last longer and its upbeat, no slow mopey stuff :-)

There's no way to actually target fat loss, and like TLC said, your diet is going to be the key factor in losing fat. You can tone up certain areas. Try focusing on core work like pilates to help tone up. Also, building lean muscle helps your body burn fat more effectively, but again, it won't be targeted to certain areas.

So far I lost 24lbs, and barely an inch has gone from my belly  I read it's the first place you gain and the last place you lose! I have 12.5lbs to go so it had better %**@# start shifting soon:grumble: but I also read that there is no specific exercise that will reduce stomach fat. I think you have to reduce your overall body fat through good diet and exercise, and then start focussing on firming the abs - I could firm them now, but wouldn't see em due to the fat layer...

    best of luck!

Oh, music: my absolute favourite working out is Judas Priest "One on one, bring it on"

I took this information from another fitness site I'm a member of (Bodybuilding.com)

Good eats for reducing belly fat: Walnuts, Unsweetened Oatmeal, Apples, Salmon (watch portion size), egg whites, broccoli, blackberries

Good ab focused workouts which I'm currently doing (AND YOU FEEL IT)

    Hope this works...
