How to figure out homemade refried beans calories?

Okay, so I'm confused. The 1 lb bag of dry pinto beans says 90 calories for 1/4 cup dry (13 servings per bag)....so that equals 3 1/4 cups dry.

But then in the directions part of the bag it says 1lb dry beans = 2 cups dry.....

So is it 3 1/4 cups or 2 cups?

I'm not planning on adding anything to the beans...so just beans and water. But I want to get an estimated calorie count (as close as I can to accurate) for 1/2 cup of refried beans.

And the 1 1/4 cup makes a difference. It either comes out to 90 calories per 1/2 cup serving, or like 140 calories per 1/2 cup serving.

How do I figure out the calories?

    Go with the dry measurements.

The 'servings per bag' is talking about the beans after you've prepared them and they've absorbed water. So 2 dry cups of beans will make 13 prepared servings of beans. I think.

Dang...lol So I should enter it as 1/4 cup dry x 13 servings if I'm making the whole 1 lb bag?

    No.

Go into the recipe calculator and still enter your 2 cups dry (the 1lb bag), but when you are asked to enter 'number of servings', enter 13.

You'd be using the lower calorie count per serving based on the dry measure if all you are doing is adding water to them.
