Anyone recently had a gallbladder removed?

I had the surgery on Friday and ever since have been having a very difficult time finding anything to eat that doesn't cause me to feel like there is a boa constrictor living inside me wrapped around all my organs squeezing until I can barely breathe. Is this normal? It starts about an hour or two after eating anything and it lasts up to 3 hours after. The only thing I noticed that doesn't cause this is non-fat pudding, sour dough bread and fruit juice. Does anyone have any advice?

I had mine removed 2 years ago.... And from what I remember, I just ate things that were very low in fat. I ate apple sauce and jello to start. Then I just made sure to eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies and lean proteins. Just really avoid fats as much as possible and slowly work your way up to eating them again.

    Hope that helps,

my daughter had hers removed, and just ate non fatty foods, had a little discomfort for about 2 weeks, and has been fine since:smile:
  • I had mine removed about 4-5 months ago. And yes that sounds about right !! I had a hard time eating anything for about 3-4 weeks. I ate alot of easy gong stuff, jello, pudding, soups. I could not hardly swallow meat at all. It will pass, just be easy on yourself and what you eat.

Soft low fat foods are the way to go
and ease back into eating regular food
  • Thank you all for your help, I think I will just muscle through the pain for the next few weeks and be extra careful not to eat fatty foods. I was terrified to eat anything today, and finally decided I would try non-fat no sugar added frozen yogurt since it has protein, and I have been suffering for it. I will give the applesauce a try when I am feeling better.

Yeah... I would say stay away from dairy for a little while.... I know that was hard for me too. I am sorry, I know it is hard. But it will pass.... Just be careful.

I had mine removed. At least its nothing like the pain you had before it was removed right? My gallbladder attacks were INSANE!!!! Worst pain ever including child birth.

Mine was removed over 2 years ago. I still can't have too much dairy, veggies or fatty foods. :( I do remember having to eat jello, soup and popsicles for a few weeks after the surgery. After that I "graduated to solid food. lol
