How do we feel about doing the same workout 6 days a week?

I have been doing research and some people feel that doing the same workout often gives you results. Others feel you need to switch things up every now and then so the you're body feels it needs to adjust and that is how you see results. What do you guys think. I have Jillian's 30 day shred and today was only my second day of level 1, Monday was my first day. When I first got it I post this question. How often should I do the 30 day shred. The only advice I got was try to do it 6 days a week and it's a good idea to do cardio after it. And have 1 day of rest. I'm fighting off a cold so if I work out for 20 mins. I feel like I'm gonna die. But I want to know how often 30 day shred users do this workout and how it works for you.

Hopefully, I can give some input on this thread. I don't do 30 day shred, though.
I think besides proper nutrition, one of the most important things that you can possibly do is to never repeat workouts. Always hit every muscle differently. There are so many ways you can isolate each muscle.0 -
I havent gotten to the point of not losing from the same work outs, but I have felt the muscle pains. I always do treadmil/elipitical 4-5 days a week for last 2 months. But i am not a fan of video workouts, so i just use whats at the gym. Every once in a great while i will do the bicycle for a bit to change it up but thats too boring for me. I will continue to do same workouts until i dont lose anymore lol...Best of luck to you!0

I mix it up but strive for 30 minutes of getting off my duff each and every day. Just finishing up a graduate class and motivation has been difficult. For my old (71 yr old) bones, bike, walk, or swim are best suited for me. I don't like structured exercise classes. There is always a size 10 in the row in frot:glasses: n of me and I get to giggling. Why the hell are you here honey, is what I think.0

I have done 30day shred and have had GREAT results. I am also doing her 6week 6pack and also having great results with it. I did the 30day shred each level for 10days. It switchs up soon enough that I think it is ok. You don't want to do the same workout for 30days straight not sure you would get much out of that (outside of running).
Jillian's workouts are awesome and real butt kicking!0 -
I think it is really important to switch things up - just as you wouldn't get optimal health benefits from eating the exact same thing every day, even if it was basically healthy and low-cal. All of the trainers I have ever talked to have said not to do weight/strength exercise 2 days in a row - your muscles need time to recover and rebuild, otherwise you're not getting the full benefit from your workouts. I lift weights every other day, alternating with cardio, a mix of running, walking, elliptical, and swimming in the summer. That hits all of the different muscles in different ways. Not to mention it keeps you from getting excessively bored, which I would have to think would be a concern if you did the exact same workout 6 days a week.0

i would easily get bored and maybe un-motivated....thats why i try to switch it up every day0

Conventional thinking by a lot of "experts" says change it up now and then because your body will adjust to the workout and that's when you can plateau and see diminished results. Speaking from experience, changing my routine every couple of weeks has kept me seeing results every week. Even if you do something like ride a real bike instead of a stationary bike. Don't do the same dumbbell biceps curls, etc.0

i did the kbell workout for about a mo.. it was cool when i did it with someone elts but alone i just get tired of it all0

I too use the 30 day shred. I think that since there are 3 different levels, it's not bad to do it for at least 30 days. Each level is different, and it's not the same repetitive workout each time either - you are still using different groups and doing several different things during each workout, each level.0

I am just finishing up the Shred. I do extra cardio with it ever coupke of days, and I have done it every day but 3 and have extend to make up for those 3 days. I have had awesome results! 16 pounds and 19.35 inches lost in just the 30 or 33 days of doing it. I do know some people who just do it every other day it just depends on what you think is best for you. It does sometimes get irritating listening to Jillian for 10days in a row till you switch levels. So i would just turn on music and mute it. I just post pictures of my progress with the Shred last night if you want to see them just follow this link.

Yeah I put it on the "music only" mode no commentary it helps! Sometimes volume down too.
I have been doing pilates too, for about a week and walking the dog here and there, nothing major but it's a start.0 -
Thanks for all your help guys. Your input really helped me figure out a great workout schedule.0

If you are relatively new to working out then doing the same workout 6 days a week will show you good results. Once your body reaches a point where those specific muscles become used to the exercises you will not see results as quickly as before. So doing the 30 day shred to kick-start a workout regimen is a great idea if you are newer to working out.0
