When did you notice the biggest loss?

I hear is the last 40 or so pounds that are the most dramatic in terms of noticing loss of inches, pant size, body shape, ect... Is that true? I had 90 to lose total and now I have 64 to go and I've noticed little changes but nothing big yet.

I think it depends on height/body shape, etc. I am 5'11" and one thing about being tall...you hide the weight. So for me, I really didn't have a "drastic notice" until around 30 pounds (prior to joining MFP I had lost 60 pounds). I also have more of the "hour-glass" shape to my body...so my waist always had good definition...it was the hips/thighs that I hated and took the longest to notice any change in.
I think the best thing is when other people notice and comment...then you know something is working. As we look in the mirror everyday...but when someone comments that you look good...that's a huge ego boost and helps you keep going!!

I didnt notice until everyone said "oh my god, you lost some weight!" and Im like really? But unfortunatly I still see myself big. I hate that I still see myself that way. And then when I tell people I have alot more to go they just look at me like I had four heads. I need to lose at least another 30lbs. 50 just to get to my healthy weight. So I tell people Im just trying to get my healthy weight and they just nods.0

I think it depends how much you have to lose.
I have seen some fanstastic pics on here where they've lost 25lbs and its a huge difference, seen 50lb losses where there really wasn't a big difference. My sister lost 3 stone, you could see it but nothing major but when she hit 4 stone lost it was a HUGE difference. I'm hoping its the same with me!0 -
Oh for sure it's the last few pounds that make the biggest impact. I think it's because your weight loss to body mass ratio is a lot higher on the last 20-40. I've noticed that I look pudgy at 160-170 but rather lean at 140-150. I wouldn't think that 10-20 lbs would make a big difference. It certainly didn't when I was in my 200s but now it does.0

Mathematically, it is likely that you will visually see more of a difference with less weight to lose. The reason is that the circumference is smaller and hence less reduction in mass will result in a larger loss in circumference--the changes appear more rapid even with the same average loss per week. The short answer is yes.
That being said, personally I noticed the differences more at the beginning--but that was because I felt better about myself and I knew I was doing something about my weight. I also had an increase in energy and boost in confidence.
Near the end, there was a more rapid reduction in pant size.

It is weird how it happens sometimes. The first 35 lbs. or so I lost, only a few people really noticed and made a big deal about it. It was the first time I had seen most of my family in 8 months, none of them had seen me since I had started losing weight. But then when I saw them 20 lbs. later (about 4 months after that), EVERYBODY noticed. I couldn't believe that it was such a big difference with a loss so much smaller! But that's how it went!0

Mostly I noticed when people that hadn't seen my for a while all said how small I looked. I think when you see yourself everyday, you dont notice it. I can really see it in my face in pictures now though...I have a jaw again!0
