A question for those who lost boob mass...

Hey ladies,

I am hoping that, in my weight loss journey, I get rid of some boobage. Seriously, 36 J is too big. So I have a question for those who have lost cup sizes as well as pounds:

When your boobs got smaller, did the skin shrink up as well? I'm a bit fearful of losing and then having a "National Geographic" situation if you catch my drift. I would assume it would be like skin anywhere else on the body, correct? You lose in your stomach, arms, thighs, what have you and the skin (most often times at least) shrinks to accommodate... can one expect the same with boobs?

    Bump !!
  • My god no wonder you want to lose boobage - a 36J!! Your back must be in bits hun!

Fortunately I don't quite have that problem. I have gone from a large D to a B i think and my boobie skin shrunk with it (but then i'm incredibly lucky not to have kids already!!). I wonder if it depends on how quick you lose the weight too? I know if you have a lot of fat to lose and lose it quick you are left with saggy skin - maybe our boulders are the same?
    Good luck chick!

My boobs (34H) don't shrink much when I lose weight. Unfortunately, I have breastfed 4 kids - currently breastfeeding the 4th so there's no way for me to avoid the 'National Geographic' situation!

It depends on how much weight you have to lose and how much of it is coming from the breasts.

Having lost this same 40 pounds once before and kept it off for 20 years, I can say that for me, the skin went almost all the way back. And yes, a lot of the weight came from the girls. However, I was 19 or 20 the first time around, so everything was more elastic then.

I just went from a C to a B and I have extra skin. It bugs me more then my c-section belly! When I lay on my side you can see the empty space in my boobs. I call them my granny boobs...lol

So far mine are just deflating kind of slowly (42 DD at my heaviest, now down to a FULL 38 C). However, I've also had 2 kids and breastfed them both so I don't expect them to go back to being perky like they were when I was younger and thinner. I think any place you lose weight, especially a place like breasts where there's nothing but fat, things will get a bit saggy at least for a while.

 I have had a national geographic situation since my boobs started to come in (the doctor called them naturally pendular) ugh!

on a previous weight loss where I went from a 40H to a 36G- my skin did shrink up a bit but not completely - that was 15 years ago (! god I am getting old!)
now I am currently a 42J+ (I have bras in 42J that fit miore fully than other bras in a 42L- bras are just crzy that way) and can tell you so far they are shrinking slowly with the skin too- at any rate I am saggy enough that once I get closer to goal these girls are going to get a lift!

    good luck:love:

It really depends on your skin type and how much you moisturize. I went from a 42E to 34 D with minimal stretch marks on the sisters. But I also moisturized 3x a day with cocoa butter. My friend went from a 40F to 36C and hers were a wreck -- I think one went straight to crinkly pear and the other looked like a roll of quarters in a sock. It takes awhile for them to adjust -- so don't get discouraged. Also, don't forget to weight train. Building those pectoral muscles will assist in warding off pancake sag.

I lost my boobies :( I was formally a 38DD now I'm a 38D or 36DD....and unfortunately I have a little bit of extra skin. I noticed it recently and that's when I realized I was losing my jugs. I hope they don't get much smaller. My measurement across my chest used to be 42 and not its 38. I don't want anymore sag.

Thanks for all the replies! I am breastfeeding my 8 month old daughter still which, while lovely, isn't going to do a thing to help the situation haha.

Meh, I guess once I'm at my goal and I can prove to myself to retain said goal for a while I may pay to have them lifted. I'm 25 but have been big chested all my life and I fear the damage is probably done by now.

But I will remain optimistic as I continue to lose!
  • I have the answer...Its called chest press...and it does work. I do 3 sets of chest presses 25lbs and it helps with the droppage

my girls hardly changed with the weight i gained so i'm hoping i dont lose too much. When I finished breastfeeding my babies my boobs would be like a stone in a sock at first but then would fill back out without extra weight elsewhere so to any of you losing boobage and suffering the stone in the sock scenario take heart, they probably will fill back out a little.

I've also heard that chest flies help perk them up and will be starting this week as i've now got a bench that i can do them on

Definitely can't hurt, going to add them in to my routine! Thanks!

Also, loving the colorful terms "crinkly pear" and "stone in a sock" LOL.

Just a reminder that the Chest Press exercise is for the muscle BEHIND the breasts~ the pectoral muscle.

There is NO muscle in the breast. I am a Mammographer and there is a lot of misconception over what to do to re-shape, firm, enlarge, minimize, etc our poor helpless boobies.

For the most part, you get what you get. Breastfeeding, diet and medications may have SOME effect on "what you get" such as size and type of tissue. But the shape, firmness, perkiness, etc are just up to the universe and oh yeah, a plasic surgeon!!

Can I take a moment to remind all of you to get your annual Mammogram!!

And no matter what they look like, be happy that your girls are healthy!!

    Hugs,
    Rosie

I went from a full C to now a rather sad looking B. Nothing a good bra doesn't fix, but naked is a whole different story! I still have quite a bit more to lose (at least 30 lbs - possibly more), so I'm anticipating something that looks like 2 deflated water balloons stuck to my chest by the time it's all over with!

I was an A before I gained weight, and my guess is that I'll be an A when I'm done.

 I was just thinking about that yesterday as I was doing my cardio. Was a large 36D small DDwhen I gained weight before wg was a 32D/DD . I normally wear 2 bras when I exercise but yesterday I was flopping around during my jumping jacks and thought I was going to give myself a black eye. Yes I have definitely lost some mass and the top look deflated without a bra :blushing: I would prefer that they not get friendly with my knees too soon because unfortunately, I have to wait until after I have kids to get them fix. :grumble:

Sorry sweetie. I too am a J-cup. That's REAL boobage there. I have been on various and sundry diets through the years and Cocoa and Puff never go anywhere. Also as your band gets smaller the cup size can increase! Just make your peace with the ladies and get an expensive I mean good sports bra. Gotta preserve those Cooper ligaments. And by keeping them moisturized will decrease the appearance of the deflation. I use Ambi and cocoa butter.

    Good Luck

    I went from a 42C to a 38 "almost" B.

I think the only thing I have left is skin. My boobs definitely look like deflated balloons too.

Gosh I didn't even know they MADE a "J" !!! You poor thing! I did, however, actually crack up laughing at the "National Geographic" refererence.... one because I remember catching my brother under the bed looking at that issue... but also because I pretty much look like that now except that I hardly have any boobs left. :( I went from a full "C" to needing a padded supportive "B." They arent pretty but I'd rather have what I have now in a smaller body than look like I looked before...

I lost 132 lbs, went from a size 46 DD to a 42 Small C, I love my breast this size I think it look better the skin on top is a lil thinner now but with the right bra its all good and the good thing I was blessed with nipples that still look forward instead of down at the ground this creates a great illusion of perkiness!

I went from a 40j to a 38ddd and my skin as shrunk fairly well. They look pretty much the same only smaller. There is a little extra skin but not much and it definitely isn't the national geographic look..lol. I lotioned them the same way I do the rest of me..not positive if that had anything to do with it or not but it couldn't hurt.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences with weight loss and the girls! Seems like the only thing to do is prep and hope for the best. I am going to start lotioning up, I really should anyways. And chest plies!
  • Hi I am barely a A "D" now, but the "C" still is a little too tight. I'm not sure if they make a 1/2 D, but I did lose some boob weight. Why? when I have been a C all my life until I hit 26. LOL! Went up to a D.. Oh yeah.. Up grade boobs.. Then they went first, and they felt like too flat thick pancakes sitting on my chest.

Chest presses only works the "thin" layer of muscle we have behind our "boob fat".. Yes, it can "help""SOME" but not a great deal. I've done them, and was asked to stop doing them by my fiance. It scared him because it felt like hard lumps... And everything came back neg.. So there is no need in worrying if it is "cancer"

Our boob"fat" does go down inside, when we lose weight and as we get older.... Our boobs stop saying hello & say hey..
I've done all the tricks to keep them in line.
Running with a 2 small sports bra on to keep them from bouncing all over the place, and also sleeping in it. Thinking that would help, because grand mom always said.. Sleep with a bra on to keep them from hanging all over the place. You don't want to give them room to run.. "HANG"

I say, don't worry and do your thing. Let things flow, and invest in a bra that is going to keep them saying hello..
