April Fools

I decided to be a little bit of a troller today instead of doing my homework apparently and ... well... maybe I'm just socially out of tune or something.....

Last time I checked, April's Fool's pranks were supposed to be funny, silly and relatively harmless. Most of the ones I've seen claiming to be April Fool's "jokes" here today I didn't find particularly funny. In fact, I found the majority to be undercutting, undermining and pretty negative.

Did I miss a memo somewhere? Has April Fool's always been so .... mean?

Okay, I don't like Monty Python, Dr. Who or similarly styled "english" humor either so maybe there's just something wrong with *my* sense of humor? :indifferent:

  • This is our family's favorite holiday. It is a blast around our house. I have a whole memoir dedicated to the pranks we've played on one another over the years, and it is always harmless fun.
For instance, last year my daughter "decorated" my car windows with post it notes, hid all the shoes in the clothes dryer,
tied all my undergarments together with kite string, etc.
This year I changed my answering machine- " We're sorry, the number you are trying to reach has been changed. Please hang up and dial

XXX-xxXX or XXX-XXxx ( giving my phone number, but each time enunciating a different set of the same number) I got several people that called back more than once ( I knew from caller id logs) and several messages the answering machine recorded - "HUH? I just dialed that"
    That's my idea of "funny".

The boobies and booties one was - and it was shut, locked and dismantled.

the one we all got on with about this being a dating site (you know, the really long one.. with the ''ho club" comment) the OP said it was an April Fool's post (I don't know if I buy it, but whatev) and then someone else posted on one of BigBeaver's that was telling people to get an "Effin' life" and that was supposed to be an April Fools.

I don't know.. these just seem downright mean to me. Not boobies n' booties.. THAT was funny - but taken down. Have no idea why...

    Clean:

Those are cute and harmless and funny...

Cutting people down and undermining their confidence or personal life isn't. At least, not last I looked when I checked the joke book of life. Last I heard, that fell under the category of bullying. :grumble: :noway:

Oooh so on this day, people use "April Fools" in place of "jk".

    You're a *****. APRIL FOOLS!

TG: Oh, we're going to start the war again are we?

    *****.

    :drinker:

Okay, good point. You know, if people have unpopular opinions and wish to share them, fine.. whatever. everyone's entitled. Expect some flak from it though and also expect there will be a minority that agree and those will be good people for said person to friend.... I just don't get the downright meanness of some posts. **sighs**

But I guess that's a minority and unpopular opinion - one not even worthy of response apparently.
