Does anyone know of a good light alfredo sauce that I can buy in a grocery store? I have some that I use, and I'm just careful with my measurements and make sure I don't use any more than 1/4 cup (which is actually almost too much for me)...but I thought I'd check and see if there were any better options out there. I'd love to hear from anyone with some pointers =)

    Classico Alfredo Light! It's good!
  • You're doing what I do. Although a quarter of a cup is just a bit too much for one serving for me. I use a couple of tbs. I haven't seen a light alfredo sauce, tho i guess you could make one, but frankly it probably wouldnt taste as good and wouldn't be much less calories than what you use now. I say go for the regular sauce that you like, just watch the servings and how often you use it !:flowerforyou:

Not a premade, but quick and easy:

    Ingredients

1 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    2 cups skim milk
1 cup chicken broth (try to find a really low sodium one - not those 33% less ones, but real low)
3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour (I prefer potato flour actually)
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. black pepper
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

    Directions

In a medium saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add garlic and saute until golden brown.

In a small saucepan, stir together milk, chicken broth, flour, salt and pepper over low heat until smooth and thick. Stir into garlic. Continue to cook over medium low heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce is thick. Stir in Parmesan cheese.

    Number of Servings: 8
