just came across this online, thought it may help during the festivities:

Eat lean protein, high-fiber whole grains, nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables, and healthy fats from foods like nuts, avocados, and extra-virgin olive oil

Healthy alternatives to treats:
1. Individual packages of whole-wheat crackers
2. Sugar-free gum
3. Small bags of nuts
4. Small bags of trans fat–free popcorn
5. Temporary tattoos
6. Stickers

Yes, I think we are banning halloween candy from this house, well maybe just a little, I think my kids will only visit our few neighbors houses, and thats it, I was thinking of giving out fun stuff also, stickers, or toothbrushes, I think parents may appreciate it better. We will visit only a few houses, then come home for a home cooked halloween themed meal, and watch a family movie together.

What a great idea, we usually watch a good halloween type film, not really spoke to DH yet, but I'd love to do the same this year- minus the candy

If I gave out toothbrushes, I think my house would be egged in no time though  Parentse may be grateful, but the kiddies would hate me, then again....:blushing:

That's the spirit! Don't FEAR the candy, dance around it, knowing you don't want it!

Halloween is going to be a treat day for me. My bf and I are buying some Kahluah Holiday Nog and watching scary cheesy movies on tv! I'll probably buy a small bag of Whoppers because they're my favorite.

I ordered some Fair Trade Dark Chocolate Mini-Bars intending to give them out for Halloween BUT I think I'm keeping them for myself....they are sooooo good! AND, 1 little bar only has 20 calories, 2 carbs, and 2 fat grams! thumbsup8de.gif AND, they don't cause my BG levels to hardly go up at all! thumbsup8de.gif So, I think I'll hang onto these as a special little treat for myself and buy some cheap candy at the Dollar Store to give out
  • I am eating me some candy on halloween!!!!
