OT: Prayers

Hi everyone! You guys are all so amazig and supportive with weight loss and i thought i would reach out to you for prayers for my dad. i will give you the short version:
Yesterday morning on his way home from work, my dad had some back chest pains, was having difficulty breathing and was very dizzy. He went to the ER. All day yesterday they did tests and couldn't find any indication that he had had a heart attack. However today they did a heart cath- (i don't know if that is the right word or is spelled right) anyways, he has a blockage in his heart. a stent will not help in this case so on monday sometime he is going to have to have bypass surgery.
That is all we know so far, they will talkt to the surgeon tomorrow sometime. I am so scared for him and it is so tough because i am 5 hours away from home at school. If the surgeon gives any indication that we (my sister and I) might want to see him before surgery, i will be there in a flash. However, if not, i am going home, hopefully on thursday for the weekend. I will keep you all updates but please keep him and my family in your thoughts and prayers! thank you all so much!

Thank you guys so much! His name is Gary. The surgery is at 1pm tomorrow (monday) and will last about 5 hours. I appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers so much!!0

Being away from home has to be so difficult for you at a time like this! You will all be in my prayers. I used to work on a step-down cardiac ICU unit & am much accustomed to prayers before surgery. Be careful driving home on Thurs, too!0

Thank you all so much for all your prayers!! My dad started surgery today at about 300pm and was out by about 7. He ended up having to have quadrupal bypass surgery and he did really well. He should be up and awake tomorrow and hopefully off oxygen tonight. Again thank you so much for all the prayers, i have no doubt that God heard them and held my dad in his hands today! Please pray for a successful recovery!

that's fantastic! I pray that the lifestyle changes aren't too drastic for him to handle. Some people get shocked by all they have to do to stay away from another scare. Best of luck & God's blessings!0

I'm SO glad he's doing well. Once my dad recovered from his surgery, he started feeling better than he had for years because his heart was suddenly getting enough oxygen! I hope your dad will feel lots better, too, and will be able to really embrace a healthy new lifestyle that will help him have a LONG, active life!

My dad ended up in the ER on Thursday with a small heart attack. He had a cath on friday and luckily they didn't find any big blockages. He is home now and resting up.
It is such a terrifying thing for a daughter to go through!
I am so trying to talk my dad into MFP b/c he needs to start making the same lifestyle changes we all are.0
