Cheat Days

I have been taking this at a smooth pace. I have lost 6lbs over the past 4 weeks. I started at 216 lbs and want to get to 190 lbs. I do plenty of exercise including both weight training and cardio. I also do 1 cheat day a week on my food. I feel like this gives your system a bit of a shock and actually helps a little.
Give me your thoughts.

I don't necessarily give myself cheat days instead If I really want something I have it and move on...
I make sure that on those days that I do have that little extra something I make sure I have exercised that day...
I think you have to give yourself treats every now and then to keep you going...or at least I do....

I think for women, we have that built in, it's called PMS! LOL There are some times where I would fight a bear for a garbage can, and when I get on the scales & think, oh boy this isn't going to be good, and SURPRISE I'm actually down! So yeah, I agree that a shock to the system throws it into warp speed!
As for one day a week, I don't plan them in, they usually just happen. And I'm not working right now, so the only temptation I have is what I put myself in front of. Which I can do ok on. Once I get back to work, I'll let you know how strong I am! lol
I find I do better if I can sit down in the morning & plan out my day & then I can give myself a treat like my 43 cal cappuccino & a 100 cal pack of cookies. If it's already accounted for I don't have the shock of figuring my cals & find out I was over. Alot of times too, I give them to myself & never end up using it! BONUS!
Good luck on your journey! If you find something that works, go with it. My friend keeps telling me to stop watching the numbers (I'm a bit analytical!) and listen to what your body says. When I mentioned I would kill for a steak, he says "you need protein, try adding a bit more & see what happens" I did, and now I wouldn't kill for a steak, but I would maybe bust a knee cap! :laugh:0 -
I think cheat days are good after you have lost most of the weight you want to lose. Since the deficit of calories is measured weekly, one day of cheating and consuming ALOT of extra calories could ruin your whole week of work. Of course this depends on how much you are cheating on that day. I like to look at it as a cheat MEAL once a week...not a cheat DAY. :flowerforyou:0

i weigh in at ww every saturday morning... eat healthy alll day/limit fat and calories then on saturday night we go to dinner somewhere that we have craved all week... order whatever we want and then thats it!!! sunday new week healthy alllllll week exercise every day and do the same thing next saturday.. that way you really think about what you want, get it out of your system, dont deprive yourself and move on... i also believe that come thurs/ fri i start getting sluggish with the weight loss and after saturdays meal i might be up a pound or 2 on sunday but by monday im back down.... and ready for the week. i have lost every week for 5 weeks... between 2.6 and 4.8 lbs a week. hope this helps.... i exercise on wii fit 5 times a week 30 minutes and do 3-5 hikes a week that are 3-5 miles each. and eat 2-3 vegetarian dinners a week . i also only use wheat rice/bread/pasta..... and drink 5 bottled waters a day.0

Ladies,
Thank you for all your input. So far I have NOT gone over by to much on my Calorie intake on my "Cheat day". Now that I think about it, it is more like a cheat meal. I feel like I have been doing very good. I feel so much better and have more energy. Look out 190 here I come!! :laugh:0
