What exercise video would you recommend?

First of, let me say that I have never ever used a workout video in my life. Somehow the idea of staring at the TV and following some exercises used to strike me as dull (but then again the only once I vaguely remember are those Jane Fonda ones) plus I am a guy and us guys well you know.... Anyway I am mostly interested in a video that has interesting variety (I think the new buzz word is muscle confusion), does use more muscles groups (whole body:) rather than going from one muscle group to the other. I hear the Jillian DVD's mentioned a lot. So the question is which videos have worked for you to become more fit, increase your stamina, maybe even add some strength and most of all, are not so repetitive that they soon collect dust on the shelf. Right now I mostly run outside and do a bit of free weights at home but want to have yet one more alternative to add so I do not get too bored and fall off the exercise wagon.
Oh and last of all, a video that would not have my wife and grown - up kids smirking while I huff and puff in the TV room would be awesome:)
Thanks
Earl

I do Jillian Michael's dvds which would probably make your wife and kids smirk. How about p90, p90x or insanity. These are used by a lot of men and women as well. And if your wife and kids smirk, make them join in and that will wipe the smirk off their faces with sweat!

jillian michaels 30 day shred. Even if you do pick up some others add this one to your library too. This one is great because you will feel it, and it is only a 25 minute workout.

If you have on demand, you can sample some of the stuff out there.
  • Do you have Netflix by chance? They have quite a selection of workout videos you can stream.

I love Zumba but as a Male that probably won't work. My brother in law swears by P90X.

Zumba is a lot of fun and there are quite a few DVD's to chose from: Cardio, 20 minute express, toning and sculpting, abs, and Live Fitness. If you haven't heard of Zumba it's Columbian, Brazilian dancing (ie...Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Samba, etc...) You will definitely get your heart rate up and burn calories. Try it at least! If you enjoy it, there are classes to go to in most areas. To add to it, it is a guy that instructs it and there are men on the video so don't be threatened if you read or someone says its not for men.

Wow, I just posted this query and got so many awesome responses. Looks like P90x, insanity and maybe zumba are the top recommendations with Jillian's workout only for those day that I want to see my sweetie and kids laughing near by. ThANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR QUICK AND (oops hit caps locks there) useful feedback. Thanks also for the idea on checking these out on line first.
Let the dancing and sweating begin:)

I think you will get a lot more giggles with zumba than jillian! P90x is great, but it is expensive. You should see if you can borrow it first. Anyone you know have it?

If you're looking for cheap videos you can find at places like Walmart, I really like Billy Blanks DVD's. I burn more, and have more fun because it's tae bo type exercises.

P90X is good for if you're wanting something more expensive and wanting to bulk up and lose fat, but it's really long and I have a hard time sticking to it because I get kind of bored, but a lot of people love it.
