I have tried to read up on rice and which kind is good/bad. I'm completely at a loss. So, what rice do you use?

Usually Minute Brown Rice. No white rice.

Generic store brand brown rice, and I like to mix a bit of lentils in with it for extra protein & fiber.
  • Any brown rice - right now I'm using Trader Joe's Organic Brown Jasmine because I got it on sale for like $1.50 for 3 pounds.

How about Uncle Ben's? Do you lose most of the healthy aspects of it when you buy the microwaveable pouches? I like several of those but I can switch to the boxed kind and just plan it out better if it makes a significant difference.

I buy 5 pound bags of brown rice from the local Asian grocery. Better quality and cheaper than regular grocery stores.

I get Great Value Brown Rice from WalMart. It is .78 for a 1 lb bag and 1 lb feeds my family of 3 for 3-4 meals as a side dish. On the rare occasion that we eat white rice, we like Mahatma Jasmine.
  • make sure it is whole grain, not just "brown" rice
