Yep, definitely the couch-to-5k.... I didn't run at all but started the c25k in October and can now run 5k. My first 5k race is in 2 weeks.0

Absolutely and completely changed my life!!!! I'm now a runner, at the age of 38, when before last spring I had literally NEVER ran a mile before in my LIFE!!!!
You can download podcasts, or just the program. Either google it or look it up on iTunes. Best program ever!!!!0 -
Couch to 5k is good, I just started it last week. I'm trying to work up to a 5k too! It is supposed to get you to be able to run a 5k in 2 months.

I've heard great things about the C35K program of interval training but some great ways to improve endurance in a low-impact manner are the elliptical and biking/stationary biking.0

hi, i did 5k last yr with about 2 months of training, mixed walking and jogging, alternated laps 1 walk, 1 jog, then 1 lap walking 2 jogging and so on. This yr am doing a 10k0

c25k - best thing that ever happened to me0

C25K on M, W, & F and strength training T & Th you need a good strong core, I strongly recommend doing the C25K, its the program i have been using to prepare for my 5K next Saturday and I feel prepared and ready. I work with 2 avid(??spelling) runners and they both recommend only running 3 days a week; regardless if training for a race only 3 days of running a week and strength/core training on alt days. Good luck and hope this helps you prepare as well as it has prepared me. OH AND FYI RUNNING ON TM IS TOTALLY, I MEAN TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM ON THE TREAD MILL, I learned this the hard way LOL0

i'm going to be starting the c25k shortly. I've heard only good things about it
i'm doing it with chalean extreme (strength training)
i hope to run a 5k after completion.0 -

I just finished my first week of couch to 5k this week. My 5k is June 4th!. The podcast is great too, tells you when to jog, when to walk and does it to music. They have a facebook page, check it out. I0

Running is the only way to get better at running. At first it seems hard but before you know it, it will get much easier. I have found that when first starting out, I need to accumulate around 45 miles before my legs get the idea that they are supposed to run and not just get tired and burn.0

i like 5k101....it's a free podcast.
I'm on week 4 now0 -
thanks I hadnt heard of that site before I'll have to check it out0

Just get running. You'll be fine. Just do it, slowly, see how you feel after. If you feel ok, do the same again, and again, and again, then start trying to add a few sprints in to up your speed. If you can't do it, take it slower, run a km, walk a km, run a km, walk a km.
The first 2k are always awful, no matter how fit you are. Once you get past them, you'll be fine.0
