Hello,

I know there are some of you here that are doing or have done Insanity. I am currently trying to figure out if I am eating enough or too much calories for the program. I currently have my calories set to 1470 with a 250 cal deficit since I changed to drop .5 lb a week.

So for today I ate 1794 calories out of those I burned 465 so I NET 1329.

I 5'3 female and current weight is 153 my weight loss goal is to be at 135. So with that information do my calories sound about right? Someone told me that since I do not have a lot of lbs to loose that I should change to .5lb a week vs 1 lb.

So any friendly input you could provide will be appreciated.

Thanks

Did you follow the nutrition guide that came with Insanity? There is a formula at the front that's worth going through. I tend to not focus too much on what MFP tells me I should in take, as they don't factor into the intensity of a program like Insanity.

Use the BMR in the Insanity Meal Plan Book. Follow that. Then customize your settings to fit it

It should come with directions in the book for you to calculate exactly what you need. Just from what I see and what my girlfriend has to eat (she's doing Insanity, too), I don't think you're eating enough.

That seems ok, maybe a little on the high side. The big question is, what are you eating for food??? If it is 1700+ calories of chips, crackers, sweets, white bread and other highly processed foods, that isn't good. But if it is 1700 calories of fruits, veggies, lean proteins and whole grains, then that is better.

Have you looked at the nutrition guide with the program? What does it say for caloric needs in there? Focus on eating clean foods, lots of fruits and veggies, lean proteins and your body will thank you for it.

    Good luck with the program!!!

I am not following the nutrition guide but I did check out the formula at the beginning I will check it out again to make sure I am eating enough thanks for the input.

I'm 5'3", 164 pounds and I net over 1700 per day when I do an Insanity workout. I also have my goal as .5 pounds per week.

So I just did the numbers right and here is what I came up with

    Step 1

    655 + (4.35*153) + (4.7*60) - (4.7*32)
    655 + 665.55 + 282 - 150.4 = 1452.15

    Step 2
    1452.15 * 1.55 = 2250

    Step3 = 2250 - 500 = 1750

So that is what I am coming up with, since every one here says you have to eat your exercise calories back what I did was set MFP to 1470 and since right now I have been burning around the high 300 when doing Insanity (pushing for the 400) I add the exercise calories and that puts me around 1770 I try to eat some of the exercise calories back. Of course the NET calories that MFP shoes will come up around 1300 like they did yesterday. Does that make sense? am I doing this right? should I also be concerned about the micronutrients?
