As I am trying to get back into working out again....I find that the "wispy" hairs around my forehead are REALLY annoying. I'm not talking about a few hairs here, I'm talking clumps of hair.....this is all regrowth from last summer when I had small bald spots right above each temple and the hairline was receded a little. I have an auto-immune disorder that caused me to lose a bunch of hair in the front and it's all growing back now.

My question is for headbands, or something similar. What would you recommend? What have you tried that works well (or not so well)? I just need it directly in the front right above the forehead. The "clumps" are about 4" now for the most part but some are still shorter. I don't think hats would work....I would get too hot.

Any suggestions would be welcome.....thanks for reading!

I like the headbands made by Bondi Band. I get them at race expos but you can also buy them online. They really stay in place.

I have a horrible case of the wispies...I got a 5-pack of wide, flat, stretchy headbands at Rite-Aid...like these: http://store.americanapparel.ca/8437.html?cid=50

Just check your local drugstore, by the brushes and ponytail holders.

Headbands have never worked with me, they always fall off mid-workout. I either use bobby pins or pre-wrap. Pre-wrap isn't really for hair, but it's evolved from being used to wrap injuries and ice to being used for hair. You can get it at any sporting goods store (near the ankle/knee braces) and it'll cost you around $5 for a roll of it. Or you can get it online, this one particular site has prints and solids: http://pre-wrap.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=16

I have naturally curly hair and as I work out and sweat my little fly aways get crazy and in my face! I just wear a bandanna when I workout now. It keeps the hair out of my face and the sweat from rolling into my eyes. I have a couple different colors even, you know to match my outfit! Haha

I use a terry cloth band I got at Kmart in the Sporting goods section, I like it & its cheap, functional & stylish!
  • I have tried 2 types. The Goody thin, stretchy headbands with the rubber grippy stuff that really stays put in your hair are awesome and don't slide backwards when you sweat. But, if you have issues with hair loss (as I did after giving birth to my youngest) you might not want to use these. I have also tried the plain stretchy cotton headbands by Goody as well. They are about 1 inch thick and not as tight. They don't have the gripper stuff on the inside. When I wear them they tend to slide backwards if I am running hard but are MUCH gentler on my (thinner) hair.

Yup. Pre-wrap works well. I don't suffer from the "wispies" but I have thick, layered hair that is difficult to keep in place. You can get it just about anywhere they sell sports stuff.

For hair growth i use Hair Skin and Nails a vitamin you can get at any walgreens, cvs, walmart. it will aid in the hair growth because i have something that causes hair loss like a receding hair line. why not where a bandana? it covers and takes the sweat and looks cute

I have to have the harder plastic headbands with the teeth for them to stay on. My headshape does not hold on the streachy elastic one. I usually just get a 2 or 3 pack of goodys at a drug store.

I hear ya! After I had my son I have this whole new layer of hair! I've found these seem to work the best, in combination with a little hair spray and a bobby pin behind my ears. this does the trick!

    Good Luck!!

at walmart in the hair section they have a set of three headbands. they are made from cloth and they are about three inches wide with elastic inside. those work really well for mebecause they are wide enough to keep it all back. my sister as an auto immune disease too and she lost alot of hair and weight for a while. she takes lots of biotin for it. biotin is a vitamin that you can get 150 pills for three dollars at walmart and it helps your hair grow strong and long. best of luck
