Frustrated with Back Pain!!!

I guess Im just looking for some support and maybe to see if there are others in my same situation.
I have an extremely bad back. I had surgery to remove four hurniated discs in 2003. It was good for a while but it is back to awful on a regular basis. It really interferes with my exercise program. I try and do as much as I can but need to do more.
I have a long way to go to reach my goal and feel I need to workout more to reach it. I know swimming and water aerobics would be my best bet but have no access to a pool in my area.
I run on an eliiptical which is great for low impact.
Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this draw back and if you have ever tried alternative medicine like acupuncture or anything.

I've had 2 discectomies in the lumbar. For me the key is constant work on keeping my ab muscles tight - meaning without using my breath to do it I keep my belly sucked in at all times that I can think about it. When I'm exercising I must do this. Constant movement is also a key for me to keep my back feeling better; i.e. laying in bed makes things worse.
I was unable to run until I started barefoot running. If you want to try that do lots of research and take it very slow - do yards not miles for a while. Walking has been ok but if you hit the ground with your heel first it can send shocks through your knees and spine.0 -
Thanks for the feedback, its a appreciated and I will give it a try! I have been working on my abs as well but its tough work for sure0
