I'm shopping for a Heart Rate Monitor. I really just want it to accurately calculate the calories that I burn.

Chest strap definitely. And here's a bit more info that'll help you make an informed buying decision: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/TrainerRobin/view/heart-rate-monitor-watches-something-to-consider-69776

I was wondering the same thing ! I want something that counts my calories and I don;t have to stop and measure my heart rate.

Consumer reports rated the timex hrm #1, there were two different ones both timex. I use the timex one with a chest strap (one of the ones they rated #1) I cant find the article I read in their magazine but I really like mine and got it at Fred Meyers. I think it was 70 or 80$. Definitely recommend!0

You need one that has the chest strap for the best results I have the Polar FT 7 and I love it0

I have a Polar FT7 and am very happy with its accuracy and comfort (chest strap). From what I have read, the chest straps models seems to be mroe accurace. The straps feels no different than your sports bra strap would. I got my HR monitor off of Ebay for $80.00 or so. Its a touch pricey but well worth it for the accuracy I am able to get with my workouts. Removing some of the guesswork ahs really helped me with my fitness and nutrition monitoring.
*That I would note that I am wearing my Polar HR monitor in my profile picture.0 -
LOVEEEE my FT4!
Does just enough, but not too much!0 -
Another vote for Polar FT7. I like it.0

I use the same type as Tifanieb (Sportline). I can't really see spending $50+ unless you're already at a high level of fitness and are looking to shave hundredth's of a second off time.0
