The system says my BMR is 1257 calories, but then it set me daily intake at 1200 calories. Why would it tell me to eat less than my body needs if it spent the whole day resting in bed. Wouldn't that send my body into starvation mode and not help in weight loss. What should I do now?

Because this calculator assumes you will only be doing minimal activity and provides a built in deficit. That's why the system asks you to enter your exercise and then gives you more calories for the added exercise.0
