Cheat Meal vs. Cheat Day or Neither?

Question everyone... I know some of you guys have a cheat meal or a cheat day and some of you don't have either and just have a more balanced diet that allows for the fun stuff at any time of the week. I need opinions... Do you guys do a cheat MEAL on one day of the week? or do you go with the entire cheat DAY? I'm debating on which would be a better idea and not throw me overboard, but yet satisfy any cravings i have built up throughout the week.

    I go with the cheat meal, usually pizza for dinner once a week. If I have a whole cheat day I have a harder time getting back on track the next day.
  • I look at it this way. If you want to eat something that you don't normally have in your day to day diet, just put it in your diary for your day and still stay within guidelines for all of your numbers. You can still have what you want, just look at the portion size and know in advance what else you plan on eating for that day. Pre planning is the key.

    I do a cheat meal on Sundays. We go out to lunch with friends every Sunday, so that is my cheat meal. I still try to get something decent and not go crazy, and always try to make sure I am within my alotted calorie intake for the day. I have done a cheat day before, not because I wanted to, but because we weren't home all day and felt like total crap afterwards! I will never do that again!

    Agreed! Pre-planning is the way to go. In the morning I put in everything I know I'll be eating for the day and base the rest off of what I have left. If the numbers are surprisingly low I make sure to work in a treat :)

    I do a "treat night" almost every week (usually friday or sat). I pretty much eat my usual way all day and then dinner can be somewhat more of a splurge if I want....but then after dinner till bedtime anything goes. My cheats usually consist of chips/popcorn and candy with a movie and I might even have a slurpee and that can still add up to 2000 calories easily above and beyond my daily intake.

    I always try to burn around 1000 calories though the morning of "treat night" so I feel like I've "earned" my treats.

    I NEVER do a whole day of cheating that would just be bad for me and NEVER EVER EVER do a cheat weekend. Even when I go camping I bring fruit and eat light foods as often as I can mixed in with my less than healthy foods and try to do portion control etc.
