They are very comfortable! But every type is cut different. The only way to determine if you are going to like them or not is if you go to the store and try them on. Everyone is different, but it is a total different feel when you run with them

i have a pair and i like them.. I just use them to activate more leg muscles than i typically do. Not a full time shoe for me.
  • i have three pairs (got them on sale, promise), one for trail running, one for regular running, and one for walking/casual wear. They are fantastic if you have any sort of knee issues, shin splints, or alignment issues when you run (i have one leg that is slightly longer than the other, so my hips generally are misaligned and hurt a bit). Anyway, they are tricky to break in, you have to start off really slow, limiting yourself to short distances. Your calves will ache for days after your first run - you will discover muscle aches in muscles you didn't know you had! The good news is that they are incredibly comfortable, have been known to help with running-related ailments, and I find that the gait they make me use is much more efficient (I am less tired and I run faster). I hope this helps! Good luck!!

I have two pairs too. And like bryony said, your body will hurt in some weird places. Just do go crazy on your first run.

Uh, first of all could we keep it clean in here?

2nd of all, you have to make real sure that these are for you. I am moving in this direction this summer, but many running guides (including an article in Runner's World a month ago) suggest a very gradual breaking-in period, as much as 20 weeks where you start with just using them for 10% of your weekly running for a couple weeks, then 20% for a couple weeks, etc. The shoes inevitably change your running style (studies indicate for the better), but it can be too drastic a change for some.

I hope to get new shoes in 2-3 months, and to get a fairly inexpensive pair of running shoes and either Vibrams or Merrell's and easy my way into them.

HAH! That's actually the banner ad at the top. Weird!

I'd like to try them, but I'm such a puma gal for my running, they'd have to REALLY feel nice.

Go to their website and use the storefinder. It's easy to use. Beware there are lots of forgeries at places like ebay and other places online (vibram only sells through their site and at brick and mortar stores) and the forgeries are much lower quality.

I have two pairs of VFFs. I absolutely love them! They're incredibly comfortable and I love being able to feel the ground/have tactile feedback (especially since I'm a klutz and tend to catch the toe of shoes since I can't feel where my toes are in them resulting in many a faceplant). I usually went barefoot but it gets hot in Texas so these were exactly what I needed. I have a pair of the Sprints and a pair of the Biklas. Sprints I wear for every day wear and the Biklas I wear for running. As the others have said if you are not used to being barefoot (much less running barefoot!) work your way up to it slowly. And DEFINITELY try them on before you buy. Each style fits differently and the size you wear in one style is not necessarily the size you wear in another style.

Just bought my first pair a few days ago and think they are the best thing since sliced bread. They felt sorta strange at first but once I got use to having something between my toes I feel in love with how comfortable they actually are. If you are going to buy some I would going to a store that sells them that also has the measuring tool specific to the shoe as they are not based on regular shoe sizes. I also suggest that you try up a size or even down a size that is suggested. For example I was suggested size 45 but found the 46 to be a much better fit.
