Calling all big boobed runners!

I plan to start a run/walk program next week to change up my workouts and to hopefully build up enough endurance to be able to run 3 miles without stopping. The problem is my boobs are huge and I have been self conscience about running since like 5th grade when the boys would finish their mile quickly so they could sat on the sidelines and watch lol. The careers that Im going in require me to take a fitness test and to be able to run certain distances in a required amount of time so I really need to tackle this. Any advice from other big boobed runners out there? I must admit i dont think I have ever seen anyone with big boobs running....unless they r fake, in which case they tend to not bounce as much lol.

Maybe TMI but 38E where the hell do you get a bra to tackle that lol.

Try the Shock Absorber sports bra. I got mine on eBay for about $50. It's on Oprah's favorite things list too!

Try binding them... you can use a tensor bandage (or two) to really flatten them. It helps with the bounce...

I'm a 38DD so I do feel your pain! I buy all my running bras through Title Nine online. They do have retail stores so check and see if they have one in your area. The girls in the store are fantastic and they often have bra fitting nights where they have a bra specialist in the store to help you. I have 2 of their bras and I get very little bounce even after a year of use...I am due for new ones though! I believe the bras are returnable if you have to order them online but I have had no problem with them not being true to size. Good luck and happy running!

LOL!!!! I commend you for going the running route. You are right - you don't see too many big-boobed women running, but I actually know one. She runs marathons so I know it can be done. :o) Anyway, I'm not totally huge, but I am 34 D and I used to wear a good supportive underwire bra underneath a regualr sports bra. Now I have one I found at my local running store, but my friend (marathoner) gets hers at Target. I've been toying with getting one from Athleta.com. They have a pretty good variety.

Of course, when you start losing weight, you will see it in your boobs, too, so you'll probably have to revisit the old bra factory again.

I have a friend who is an H and she shops at Nordstroms. It's ridiculously expensive but she says that it's worth it and that she won't buy her bra's anywhere else.

I'm only a D and I double up on sports bras.

Seconding the Shock Absorbers. I'm an F, and they keep them in place!

Sorry, I need pics to be able to help more.

    Just kidding...

My wife, who also has large breasts, went to a running store and they fit her for a special one. Mind you the largest they had was D but anything larger could be custom ordered. I haven't heard her complain once since she got it, so she must be happy with it.

I don't run for that distance but I can relate (40F). When I do run on the treadmill I usually wear my good supportive bra and then a sports bra top. It kinda squishes them in and holds them put (at least as much as it can) Won't totally stop the bouncing but will reduce it.

I am a 38DD and I am also a big fan of the Shock Absorbers... another key thing is to look at your running form, the better form you have the easier it will be on both your front and your back... I found a running guide through Runners Magazine on the internet, good luck!!

I'm a 32 D and I use under armor compression sports bras and they work wonders... it feels tight at first but you get used to the feeling and then you'll be bounce free! :)

I have this one and love it. You don't even look all smashed in but keeps everything from bouncing around.

Double up. Make sure the one next to your skin in seamless so you don't chafe (sp?). I'm only a D so I don't have too much of a problem, but I like them to be as flat as possible when I run. I also wear the outer bra a size too small to help.

38DDD here. i have two really good, supportive bras that i wear one on top of the other when i'm running, but you know what really made a difference? i started wearing my nursing tank over those, as well. it's weird, but it does the trick. i just can't afford to go out and buy sports bras that i'm determined to shrink out of in the next few months.

Do a google search for Enell Sports Bra. Follow the fit guide tips or you might order a size too large. They have been on Oprah's favorites and used on the biggest loser. I paid $64 for one but found a site that had free shipping and a free tshirt. You will love this and for girls with this issue it is more vital than a good pair of running shoes!!

Enell sizes seem a little small. I am only a 32G and too big for them.

I love shock absorbers. The are great looking too. Been doing C25K and had no trouble running with them.

They have a new one called D+ Max Sports. The shoulder straps are really nicely padded, it gives wonderful support and if you are brave enough could be worn without a t-shirt over the top.

I buy my sports bras from Intimacy in Atlanta. They have stores all over the country in major cities. I wear a 34G (5xD) and absolutely love the Freya Active sports bra. I run between 20-35 miles a week and am working to run a few more. I've lost 40 pounds so I used to be a 36 H (6xD) and ran in Freya Active bra. It may not stop ALL the bounce but it makes running possible. Don't get anything that squishes you because that damages your breast tissue and is harmful. Good luck in your career choices, you will run 3 miles in no time!

Is your Freya one the underwired one?

Nothing moves with that bra. I don't use mine much because it doesn't work well with wearing a chest strap for my heart monitor. It does the job very well though.
  • Thanks you guys r awesome...i will check out some of those sites! Some of them seem a little pricey I might wait till i lose a little more so that I dont spend $70 on a bra i might not fit soon.
  • May sound too simple... but I run abt 2 miles a day and I get my bras from Target. I'm a fan of the mesh shapers because they conform to your body while still having air to breath. Also, the Compression bras really hold into place and don't slide all over the place. 38DD

I also suggests this because they're like $15 and I don't like making huge investments (like $60) for things I prayerfully won't be wearing very long. One of my bras is already getting too big and I'm looking to buy a size down. Don't feel so bad since it was only $15.

Lane Bryant Ultimate Sport Bra :) Admittedly I'm not much of a runner but they work for me jogging in place or jumping jacks. (And I am a similar size to you)
