Is there a specific time to take vitamin? My dad is always telling me to take it at night. Does it really matter??

  • I have heard morning with breakfast is better than at night, but I guess I would ask your physician just in case. Also I have heard it is better to get the higher priced multivitamins because the cheap ones don't digest as well. Again I would ask a doctor.

I always take mine at night. I get less stomach upset with it that way.

Just make sure to take it with food...the iron can upset your stomach sometimes. Amber is right on the high-priced multi's...they usually are coated in a way that prevents them from being totally destroyed from the acidic environment in your stomach (although you still lose some).

Thanx.... I kinda think night i more logical. Whatever your body didnt absorb durring the day it can do the rest with a muti... Who knows I could be wrong!!

I take mine in the morning...Just whenever I eat breakfast. But of course I forget now and then, so I'll just take it with lunch/dinner. I didn't think it really mattered, as long as I'm taking one. Huh.
  • I work in nutrition, and taking it in the morning with breakfast is best, then you get the benefits throughout the day, but if that doesn't work for you, you CAN take it any time, as long as you take it with food.

If your multi has a good dose of B vitamins, though, then the earlier in the day the better; your body has trouble metabolising those B vitamins later in the day, plus you won't get the boost from them during the day when you need it.

You should also take an iron supplement seperately if you need iron, because iron with most other vitamins, like in a multi, doesn't absorb well. It's actually best to find a gentle form of iron, liquid iron is great, which you can take on it's own, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, with a glass of orange juice to help the absorption.
