My hubby and I are ordering pizza tomorrow for dinner. I have NO idea how many calories are in one slice of pizza. It is like new york style pizza in 8 cuts, so 8 servings in one pie. But, everything i search varies so much! How am I supposed to be sure how many calories is in this stuff before I eat it! Help!<3

Unless it's a no name hole in the wall you can just google it. Pick something close to it and don't stress it so much. It's one meal. :)
  • sometimes if you go to the restaurants website they have the nutritional information.

Give it your best guess or add all the ingredients separately. I'm with you on the no name independent pizza place, they are the best LOL. Anyways, try eating a salad or something healthier ahead of time so your pizza consumption isn't as much. Can you two order something healthier? Or maybe make your own pizza instead? There are some really yummy pizza recipes out there!

those are the best places! I would just say find something that's as close as you can, and then dont worry about it. enjoy!

most of the pizza places in my area are small businesses with no nutritional information. it really depends on the toppings too. steer clear of pepperonis, bacon and sausage. maybe ask for light cheese and opt for a veggie pizza. when we order we will usually get a mushroom and olive pizza. a slice that big is most likely around 350-400 a slice.

Dominos Hawaiian style pizza has 240 for one small slice, with meat I wouldn't even think about it, it just starts to skyrocket. New york style pizza is even bigger, you might want to stick to only one slice and although I can't be accurate I would range it in between 300- 375 calories per slice. I suggest making your own pizza at home.

I like to take one whole pita and top it with pizza sauce 1/8 cup, 1/4 cup of low fat cheese, Pineapple, Canadian bacon, Bell peppers, mushroom etc... It super low in calories and REALLY GOOD and it only takes 15 minutes to make and cook. I try to stick to if I can't log it, I don't eat it :) Of course that doesn't always happen lol

I drove myself crazy with this conundrum too. My local pizza shop does not have nutrition information posted and it is unique from other places. I agree that since it is one meal that you shouldn't stress, but at the same time we all need to be honest about how many calories pizza does has. For myself, and because I am in Chicago where they cut their pizzas into little squares, I had to go to a website to try to determine the calories-to-weight ratio. My best figuring placed the pizza at 2.7 calories per gram.

I use this as a default when I order at home. It may be a little high or low, but it is what I determined that I am comfortable with.

By the way, I determined this based on pepperoni pizza (my favorite but high in calories).

Try calling them before you go and see if they know. My dad used to do this when I was growing up. He would call and say he had diabetes and was wondering if they knew the nutritional information of their food. I think he called so he didn't have to ask in person- when we came in they had no idea he had been the person that called. But you could just pick an item that is close to what you order that is in the database...
  • Where are you guys getting it from? I too say one meal isn't going to hurt you, just don't eat 4 slices! :) Don't think I'm laying off O.I.P at all. I'm just going to eat less of it. Just like you said! Eat what you want, just in moderation.
