Hey gang!!!
I am searching for some answers and since you guys are always SO helpful I thought I would start here. It is a little less than a week from my monthly visitor and I am just struggling everyday!!! No energy, crazy food cravings, wacky sleep schedule the WORKS! If I think back I can see that about a week and a half before the dreaded arrival of TOM these same types of symptoms are occuring. A buddy of mine said its sounds like PMDD.. and she might be right...but I do NOT want to get on any chemical-ly pills to get this under control! Once upon a time a Dr put me on a birth control pill and anti depressant but I felt like the walking dead with those things. I have heard that a B complex might help. I guess my question is have ya'll dealt with this same issue and overcome...also if ya'll have heard of any natural approach that might help these nasty symptoms, I (and everyone in my immediate vicinity) would so appreciate your imput!! I am so tired of dealing with this. Its like I lose a week and half of my normal life then spend the rest of the month trying to get back in gear only to start the dumb cycle over again!! HELP!!!
Thanks guys!

I have struggled with PMDD alot the last couple of years, and I started taking B6, Calcium, and Magnesium supplements, as well as birth control. Also, trying to limit caffeine intake can help too. Google PMDD and you'll see lots of forums/message boards that talk about natural ways to battle it.0

If you have no problem consuming alcohol, I have a friend that swears by a glass of dry red every evening during that time. Personally, I'll stick to dark chocolate. :-D0

Honestly I have found B vitamens to be helpful with keeping my mood and energy level up. I also allow myself to indulge those cravings every once in a while with an individually packed treat so that I can't eat a whole thing of cookies or something. I just make sure to put in some extra time on the eliptical to burn off those extra calories.0

Try extra iron (natural food stores have some good choices) and iron-enriched foods. I had very low iron levels so I have been on a regiment and I feel SO much better. Sleeping better, feeling better, no mood swings! Plus, we always lost some iron during TOM. Good luck0

You can look into a calcium supplement and a fish oil supplement (omega-3). A lot of women with PMDD swear that fish oil helps if you're not big on eating fish. Calcium can help if your body has trouble metabolizing calcium and side effect of that may be some of the PMDD symptoms. You can find some more info on google regarding these supplements. Hope this helps!0

I've been struggling with PMDD since my period returned after the birth of my youngest child. It's tough. Nothing really cures the symptoms for me, but there are some things that help. B complex that you and others have mentioned is a good one, as well as flax seed oil (I can't stomach fish oil, but if you can, fish oil would be better). Calcium can help with any cramping. I've also found that a D supplement helps my mood all month long, but especially during TOM.
Take care. PMDD is awful business.0 -
