Making up for previous days?

If you go over calories one day should you workout for longer the next day? Or should you just take each day and assess it on it's own?

    take each day by day. If you go over don't sweat it. This isn't a perfect science.
  • personally I would just take each day as it is; what was done the day before can't really be undone but you can use it as a learning tool of sorts and just continue to try and stay on track.
  • I always look at the entire week. I expect to eat a certain amount of calories, burn a certain amount, and exercise a certain amount of time, per week. So, if I slack one day, I definitely make up for it the next!!

    I will take a penalty the next day and eat less to offset the overage. It's usually only 100 calories or so.
  • I personally try to make it up the next day. For example last night I went out to dinner and went over my calorie limit so today I made sure I was eating healthy and that I go for a run (even though I usually take Friday's "off" from working out).

    this is what I do as well - since I weigh in weekly - it helps me with the mental side of things as well (and in some ways, perhaps no different than doing an extra hard workout if you know you are going out or have a special occasion or whatnot...)

    but as mentioned above - tis not an exact science (and therefore just my opinion) =)

    I usually hit the gym harder the next day. This way it gives me the incentive to control my calories intake even more knowing every time i exceed my recommended intake I will have to work harder at the gym.
