Wow. Last night while surfing the 'net (reading MFP stuff of course) I noticed my pulse beating very slow, like the same speed as the seconds clock on my macbook. I timed it. 60bpm!!! Then I did it again: 56bpm!!! When I started this journey exactly 2 months ago it was 118. Test yours today! It's a significant measure of heart health, and if you're exercising daily it will come down. I was so happy I shouted. Can't wait to get to the gym!

Here's a chart:

Crazy Steve, over and out.

I recently had a metabolic test done and it was at 50. I was actually alarmed at first thinking that it was too low. Then after some reading was pleasantly suprised to find that this was actually a good thing!

Yay! I am right there with you - I have ALWAYS had a very high resting heart rate but, after just a few months of regular exercise, mine is also now right around the 55-60 bpm range. Yay for improved health!

When I first got my HRM, my resting heart rate was between 70 and 75. After one month of working out, I checked it again and found it to be between 52 and 55. I'm shocked that I fall into the "athlete" category on the spreadsheets that you posted. Interesting! Very interesting!

P.S. I would not consider myself an athlete by any stretch of the word!

Mine is in the 59 - 63 range, which puts me in the Excellent category, very near to Athletic. That's not bad for a fatty like myself. *Flex*

I read somewhere that you should test right when you wake up, still in bed - for resting heart rate. Mine is in the high 40s-low 50s at that time, but in the low 60's when awake, but relaxed.

Good to know! Noticed my HRM initial number becoming lower and lower and didn't think much about it!

I am no athlete but my RHR is about 49... Guess it has to do with my daily exercise over the last few months. :)

Maybe scale and mirror don't show it yet, but you ARE athletes. I'm an athlete trapped in a mushy body that's slowly disappearing.
