I currently own a Polar F6 hrm that I have had for 3 years and LOVE!!!!! Problem is that the battery in the chest strap needs to be replaced. You are not able to replace the battery yourself and it has to be sent in to polar for a charge/replacement. It costs $75 to do that and it makes me sick to my stomach to pay $75 to get a battery replaced when the HRM only cost me $100 to begin with. What HRM do you guys recommend that is comperable to the F6 but that you can change all of the batteries yourself?

The Timex model has replaceable batteries. I was happy with that while I was using it. But I no longer wear it because I use my FItBit that tracks my calories throughout the day. Similiar to the bodybugg but a lot cheaper!
  • that is a shame that something so decent has to wind up breaking the bank just to change a battery :-( I wanted to seriously look at a HRM monitor but will have to do serious research to make sure it is one I can change a battery myself; for that kind of money you might as well just buy a new one and that stinks :-( think I'll keep looking at the pedometer I want to get and skip the HRM for awhile

I have the New Balance N4 from Target for $70. The instruction book just says to take it to a "watch professional". My husband is in the jewelry business and can change them. Any jewelry store that changes watch batteries, should be able to do it. That was why I didn't go with Polar, I didn't want to send it in for batteries. I love my New Balance Pearl!
