Heart Rate Monitors and Nike+

Hi! I have been browsing around for a good heart rate monitor and need some help. I need one that is relatively affordable, but still accurate. I have a pair of the Nike+ shoes, but I have not bought a sensor to go with it. I was wondering if anybody knew how exactly the Nike+ works? And also, what brand of HRM would you suggest? Any help you can give is greatly appreciated, as this is an area that I am completely clueless in. Thanks so much!

actually the Nike+ is great and inexpensive! its only about $13 and you can connect it directly to your ipod or iphone tells you how far youve gone how much and how long you walk for.0

love my Nike+ and ipod. I also wear an HRM. I hear that they now can connect. Do some research to see what is compatible with each other.0

I personally do not like Nike+ because the distances can be off if you are running. I've ran 6+ miles with a Nike+ but it only registered 4-5 miles sometimes. I prefer something GPS based like runkeeper if you have an iPhone, Blackberry, or Android phone. It can also sync up with a heart rate monitor if so desired.0

Polar makes the HRM that syncs with the Nike + stuff - I picked one up for a good friend who had the food pod and the ipod nano and thus far his reviews of it have been positive - just do your research - apparently it will not play nice with some of the older generation ipods. I am pretty sure I bought it from nike.com, it was about $60, but having something that integrates into a system you are already using is pretty darn useful.
(And if you opt not to go that way - polar has some great products. (The Garmin forerunners are nice too, but they are a GPS as well and thus more expensive! (But also more accurate regarding distance.))

One of MFP recommended a polar HRM. I'm getting one this weekend, they cost from low to high end, that should meet your budget.0
