Hey all! Just wondering if anyone out there has any shortcuts/tricks/curve balls when it comes to what they eat.
An example I've been using for a while: instead of store bought croutons on my salad, which is essentially fried bread with garlic, I crush up melba toast and sprinkle it on salad instead. It gives a very satisfying crunch! And it's so much better for you.

Bump - I would love to get some other tips.
Mine is when I'm craving salt (which is way more than sweet) - I love bbq sunflower seeds (not hulled) so you have something to suck on before you even pop them open and enjoy the tiny seed!!! OR pistachios - roasted and salted
For sweet- I can usually get away with a cup of coffee with some yummy creamer (1 T = 35 calories)...
Good luck!0 -
I've been using baked wonton wrappers as crackers or chips. Just cut one into 4 squares for crackers or 2 triangles for chips. Spray a cookie sheet with Pam, toss on the wrappers, spray again with Pam. I bake them for about 6 minutes at 350. They have a lot less calories than normal chips or crackers. (I think the last pack I bought was 20 calories for 1 wonton wrapper, which makes 4 chips/crackers) Then you can season them with whatever. I usually do a dash of salt then use them for dipping into salsa or hummus.0

I sometimes use Tzatziki in my Tuna instead of Mayo. It gives it a little bit of that creaminess but also way more flavor than a mayo. More than half the calories too.
I also use a wedge of Laughing Cow (light) On my sandwiches instead of regular cheese. They only have 35 calories!0 -
sometimes I use a cheese string in my omelete instead of shredded cheese and save 70+ calories

Hummm..... I haven't even considered cheese strings. Do they have light or calorie wise versions?0 -
If you can afford organic milk, it is way creamier than regular. 1% tastes like 2% and 2% tastes like whole milk. But the calories are still the same as regular.0

If I want to make a creamy dip, I use nonfat Greek yogurt instead of mayo and sour cream. Just mix in seasons as usual (or a packet of that dried Hidden Valley ranch dip stuff). Ditto on tacos.
Delicious, non-fat, lots of protein...fabulous.
Good luck!0
