Can I spread out my exercise calories?

Hi all. I've been lurking for a few weeks, learning much, and just starting to lose. Had a new newbie question for you.

I run 3-4 times a week and thus burn more calories those days than I do on my "off" days when I do something lighter like pilates or some weight/resistance training. I DO eat my exercise calories, but I wondered if it's okay to "share" them over a couple of days. So, if I burn 400 on a running day, can I eat some of those that day and then eat the rest the following when I'm only burning 100 doing something else?

Your body is not on a 24 hour timer. It does not reset at midnight. I think it's just fine to spread out exercise calories over a few days... keep your body guessing.

Weight loss doesn't have to be restricted to daily counts. There are people who look at their caloric goals over a week-long period. Nothin' wrong with spreading 'em out. Go for it.
  • Thanks all. I figured as much. Just wish there was a way to log them on here that way!
