Im a mother of 4, full time student, wife with a full time internship so i NEVER have any energy when its time to work out. Some days I get through it fine other days its a complete stuggle. What are some suggestions for increasing energy before my work outs? Im tired of just working out to say I did but not really going hard. Please help! Thanks in advance !

  • I usually do a Gatorade pregame fuel pack, or a slice of toast and peanut butter...both contain lots of sugar which your body will burn through quickly turning it into energy. Potentially allowing for more energy during a workout...both seem to help me if eaten within 15-20minutes before working out.

I eat a Clif Bar about an hour before my workout so that I have the energy that I need.

Caffeine pre workout helps your body start burning fat and gives you energy. Do a sugar free rock star (i wouldn't recommend a ton of sugar it will do more damage then good) and rest...rest whenever you can. Even power nap and wake up and workout! Sometimes I workout at the oddest hours to make sure I get it in. Now everyone knows its a priority and I won't skip it!!

This is purely anecdotal but my usual pre-workout snacks are either a banana or a yogurt (the sugary kind). I have neither in the house this evening so I just ate 3 dates. Basically I go for something with sugar to get quick energy, but I don't know if this is a "known good" strategy or not.

Yeah, what everyone has been saying: sugars or simple carbs will give you a quick boost. It is a known strategy, long distance runners use it all the time.
