Jennifer Aniston's diet tips

I logged onto Yahoo this morning and saw an article about Jen's diet tips. I was glad to hear the baby food thing wasn't true...who does that???besides babies of course. Anyway, her nutritionist says the usual high protein, low carb, lots of fruits and veggies which I totally get. But then she said "No processed food". Lean Cuisine and SmartOnes are my afternoon lunch at least 3 times per week with a small salad. I am constantly on the go and my logic is "it beats McDonalds".
Am I missing something here? Is it really all that bad?

Processed foods have tons of hidden ingredients that will sabotage your efforts. It's best to avoid them altogether. A little night time prep work and you could take a healthier alternative with you.0

Processed foods should be avoided where possible, they are useful for time savers...but as a daily diet not ideal.0
-
Though low calorie meals they are not really healthy considering they have preservaties and other ingredients we don't need to be eating. Just look at whats in it. The only ingredients in food should be what it is. If it's chicken , brocolli , etc etc thats all it should have in it. You know the same as if you made it fresh at home? You can make those same meals ahead of time at home, freeze them and take them with you just like the industrially produced foods in those boxes. Good Luck0

I agree ditch the processed foods. If you do a little organization on the weekends or evenings it will become second nature after awhile. And you will feel so much better because you are not putting all those chemicals in your body!0
-
I absolutely agree here - your metabolism is not meant to handle all the chemicals and preservatives in processed foods and unnatural foods. I prepare all of my meals ahead of time on Sunday that way they are ready to grab and go during the week0

Processed foods are really bad for you. Even though many meals are low in calories & fat, they have an exteme high amount of sodium. Sodium is EVIL! Stay away from it as much as you can.
But, yeah.....ALMOST anything processed is gonna be better for you than McDonalds greasy burgers & fries.0 -
I use them once in awhile but they knock my sodium sky high! Unprocessed is best, but we're all busy, so sometimes a lean cuisine pot sticker meal is my go to choice. It sure beats a Big Mac!0

it's always ideal to eat perfect food as God made it but let's get real!! i don't worry about it and try my best to lower the calories. i think you're doing great to move off the fast food and into the lean cuisine. small steps! keep them going. as you re train yourself to eat a better diet you can begin to fine tune it! i have learned to eat fewer chips, choc chip cookies and cinnamon rolls and i've been able to lose 20 lbs. i still eat them but only a few times a week.0

I agree with the other comments. You really have to look at the label. I'm sure with being on the go, it's really hard to keep fresh meals from not spoiling. I try to stay away from process foods as much as possible, unless they're a snack but all of my meals are homemade. I count sodium as well and that really helps with not having the water retention.0

I agree with you. it beats mcdonalds. I love to have a lean cuisine pep. pizzas twice a week for lunch, its healthier then eatn Pizza Hut. I think as long as u keep your calories under the limit, and exercise, you will lose weight. I believe that if I completely obsess over ingredients its more of a set up for failure.0

I have lean cuisines for lunch sometimes. Easy and I know the calories will be low and the meal will fill me up. I think if you keep the processed foods in moderation you will be ok. I agree, definitely better then McDonald's and better on the pocketbook too.0

I have a small cooler that I pack my lunch in with some ice packs. If you are on the go all the time I would suggest getting one of these, the one I have is really cute and looks like a purse.0
-
Damn I love love love lean cuisines! They are so yummy and easy and prevent me from overeating. Plus they are cheap at the commissary.0
-
I too will grab a lean cuisine maybe twice a week for supper and include a side salad with it. I agree with the other comments about it being better than a burger and fries.....besides, i don't always feel like cooking.0

It's all relative to your lifestyle. If the alternative is McDonalds, then yes, you are making better choices.
I have a coworker who is proudly eating only 4 bags of M&Ms a day since she used to consume about 7. (literal, not exaggerated) Would anyone else brag about 4 bags of M&Ms? Of course not. Does that mean she's fine at 4 bags? No. She is constantly striving to improve and make better choices. She's working towards 2 bags/day now. lol.
In an ideal world, you would not eat ANY processed foods, EVER. But this is reality right? Try to make little changes that will help you reduce the amt of processed foods you consume, but you know, within reason to your lifestyle. (Organizing your groceries better. Cooking ahead of time. Saving better to splurge on a nice meal not from a box. Whatever.) And don't beat yourself up if you can't grow your own organic foods while simultaneously leaving a zero carbon footprint.jk jk.

If you're getting paid millions of dollars to be in front of a camera wearing a towel (The Break-up), processed foods are bad. For us normal folk - moderation is key unless we have some kind of illness that's made worse by these foods.0 -
Hahaha, yes the thing you are missing is that Jennifer Aniston probably has someone who prepares her meals for her! Of course we should all eat foods as minimally processed as possible. But a Lean Cuisine can be a good choice low-cal choice on a busy day.0

Jennifer Aniston's an idiot.
Zone diet is not practical for most people, far better diets that are more accessible and easier to do with the same results.0 -

You want the truth????
The truth is yes those things are that bad. Plan ahead, cook extra, pack a cooler with a salad in it...............
Preparation is the best tool when wanting to eat clean.0 -
I like food. Not just because we need it. So I enjoy eating a meal I've prepared. And because it takes a bit of time, there's not the time for unhealthy snacks. And it's rewarding to sit down to a tasty well prepared dish. Plus that's the time to truly relax and pay attention to the food itself. Our busy lifestyles sometimes keep us from really enjoying eating, thus we just grab something when it's convenient.
There are some really good recipes on this site. Just find a couple that are not overly complicated, make extras to freeze, enjoy!0 -
Yes, processed foods really are that HORRIBLE! That doesn't mean I don't eat them but I do try my very best to avoid whenever possible. As previously mentioned, our bodies weren't meant to process all those chemicals. All those processed foods are wreaking havoc on our bodies.0
