Crazy @$$ Diet I Heard About

Okay. Since my mother and I were talking about exercising (as weird as that may or may not be), she told about this diet that her boss (my ex-boss) and the secretary at work are doing. So here it is: They eat one serving vegetables with water four times a day for three weeks, then after three weeks they add in one serving of protein ever other day.
I told my mother, "That can't be healthy mom! Sounds like some crap they saw on T.V.!"
She said, "No it's a detox diet." Then she hit me with the line that sealed the deal on my hunch. "EVERYBODY'S DOING IT."
I chuckled in my head and sat down and ate my spaghetti. So, this is definately some fad diet right? Anybody hear of this before?

Haven't heard of it, but it sounds like torture! I'll stick my MFP thanks0

I'm doing it, too!
Everyone is!
Totally joking, by the way.
That sounds incredibly unhealthy to me, as well and I've never heard of it before. I'm with you.0 -
That's not a diet, that's just stupid.0

That's nuts!0

tell them to enjoy their muscle loss ;D0

It may work for a while, they usually do. But 9 times out of 10 people gain the weight back as soon as they start eating normally again. I'll stick with eating healthy and balanced meals, something that I can maintain forever!0

I've never heard of this one, but I have done plenty of fad diets in my life. Lost fast and gained it back almost just as fast. Making better choices and being able to live permanetly with the changes is my goal now.0

Sounds like a diet that "everyone" was doing at a company I used to work for. The company was really in to fitness and exercise (and being green), and had a company sponsored fitness trainer. My first week at this company, "everyone" in my department was following this diet -- eat only fruits and vegetables, and go as "raw" as you can. "Everyone" was pretty crabby.
Even though I was obese and wanted to participate in their nutrition and exercise programs, I just wasn't mentally prepared, and I thought that this was pretty extreme.
This is the best that I have felt in a long time -- I will stick with MFP.0 -
Glad I'm not horribly wrong on this one. But yeah, I was like "or you could just eat whatever you want in moderation like I do and exercise a few times a week. That's killed 30 lbs for me...how much have they lost?"
Haha. I feel SOOOO bad that people fall for these "quick fix" diets and either waste their time or fork over money for no reason. Makes me wanna do something about it. I think I'll open up a free personal training/nutrition counseling/ health education center in the future. After I win the lotto of couse0 -
I have a friend who was telling me her husband and her both decided to do some kind of detox that lasted for 31 days!1 I thought they must be crazy only eating fruit having fruit smoothies and water every day for a full month! I have heard of cleansing your body but not for more that a week! I have not tried it nor will I ever tried it!! I will stick with counting my calories, eating healthy and exercise as much as possible!!0

Tell them I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell them. Lol.
No way can that be healthy!!!0 -
You know, because of all the water our bodies hold onto almost anyone will lose some weight in the first few weeks of almost any diet that has you eating fewer calories and a bit less salt than you were before. Add in all that water this diet promotes and of course people will lose some weight in the first three weeks. Is it healthy? No I don't think so. Is the weight loss sustainable? Since most of the weight lost probably didn't even come from fat but from water and muscle you will probably gain back the water weight within a couple weeks of normal eating, and because of the muscle lost your body will burn fewer calories in a day and will probably start to gain weight on top of what you already weighed before this crazy diet.
That is what happens with all crazy fad diets that promise big payoff in a few weeks.0 -
Have not heard of it but it is basically starving yourself. Four servings of vegetables, depending on the vegetables, would likely not even amount to 800 calories a day (and truthfully, is probably even less than 500 calories). Not to mention the fact that you aren't giving your body variety. And it is totally unsustainable. They'll just gain the weight back.0

The craziest diet I have heard of is that stupid maple syrup one where you dont eat for fourteen days! Instead you drink warm water with maple syrup and cayenne pepper in.
Apparently all the stars are doing it.
I've never heard something so dumb in all my life personally.
Food won't kill you people! OVEREATING will! LOL0
