Honestly, it's all pretty simple. Track everything you eat. Exercise regularly (3-4 times a week minimum). Eat your exercise calories. Lean on friends, family and your MFP people for support when you need it. If you do those things, you will be a success story soon too!0

I'm not at my goal weight, nor am I an expert...but I am halfway there down 13 pounds, and 10 more to go. Some things I do are drink half my body weight in ounces of water a day...I try to burn at minimum 500 calories on workout days. WHOLE fresh foods, I try not to eat a lot of pakaged, processed foods, good sleep, and protein.0
-
I've just tried to stay within my calorie allotment, have started walking, and go to yoga... I've not done anything fancy. I don't consider mine to be a big loss, though.0
-
Shes right..track your eating! I heard if you go over 100 on calories you won't lose weight.0

Be aware of what you eat, not only WHAT but HOW MUCH.
Get moving - exercise any way you enjoy, and some ways you don't enjoy to get a bit of variety in.
Drink water. Tons of water. More water than you can imagine. Drink it.
Be patient. Your results will come. They may come in a month, they may come in 9 months. They WILL come.
*EDIT* Can't believe I forgot to mention this. SLEEP. Sleep well, sleep deep, and sleep for a long time all at once. 8 hours is great for most, some need 7 or 9. Find what amount makes you feel amazing when you wake up, and sleep that amount every single day. Don't let your weekends screw with you. Sleep regulates your body and convinces it that all is well. Sleeping all at once is key - 8 hrs means 8 full hours, all at once. 8 hrs does not = 2 hr nap, 4 hr nap, 2 hr nap. Please don't do that to yourself.0 -

um, your loss is AWESOME! you may not be giving yourself the credit you deserve0 -
Shes right..track your eating! I heard if you go over 100 on calories you won't lose weight.
That's not accurate at all. It's all about being consistent. If you go over 100 calories every single day, then no, you won't lose. But if you occasionally go over, it won't have any long term effect as long as you are hitting your target the vast majority of the time.0 -
It really is that simple. Eat the right amount of nutritious calories and do exercises you enjoy at least 3 times a week. Allow for vacation days, we all need a break here and there to enjoy some indulgences. Get a good night's sleep. And accept that it will take time to reach your goal.0

how does that make any sense? you would still have a deficit for the day if you ate 100 cals over0 -
I didn't do any program, work out or food wise...I just stayed under my calorie limit and hit the gym a few times a week. If I wanted chocolate...I ate it just a small amount to stay under my calorie limit....If I only felt like spending 1/2 an hour at the gym I did and made that half and hour count. Good luck :0)0

I track everything I eat, and workout , alot. when I was losing I was working out about 10 hours a week, ( no, I tend to not eat my calories back, but kept my calories between 1200 -1400 .
yep , thats about it. nothing fancy, no pills, no "drops" , no Program, just MFP and lots of sweat.0 -

Not quite accurate either. Depending on what your goals are set for on weight loss. For every pound you want to lose a week, it will be roughly 500 cals a day less than your maintenance goal. So if you go 100 over, you might just lose .8 pounds instead of 1 pound. So many people get freaked out when they go over their calorie limit for the day, but as long as you're not WAAAAY over, depending on your goals, you'll still lose. Not to mention, having a day where you go over once a week or every two weeks isn't a bad thing at all as long as you're still eating healthy calories. Not to mention, there are so many factors that go into calories in and out that I'd be surprised if the numbers are actually within about 10%, which on the day could be as much as 200 cals or more. Good luck!0 -

Wow! Amazing story you have there. That sounds like the best way to make it happen. It sure does help to earn it and make it happen the slow and steady way, that way you learn to live with the new body you have because you built it.0 -
Just take it one day at a time...counting everything you eat. Exercising 6 days a week, take walks, try not to sit around much.
Take advantage of all the support you can get from this site. The people here are wonderful. I joined a challenge on here to lose 40 pounds from Jan 1st to June 1st. I have lost 25 so far.

eating less than before
getting more protein and less sugar
eating when needed and not when wanted or feel pressured too
drinking only cold water and tea
being more active than before, i went with treadmill and 30 day shred
if your nutrition is on point any exercise will do, no need to worry or spend too much...0 -

True. Good points. Thanks for clarifying my point and saying it much better than I did.0 -

and if anyone has a "success story" it's TamiShumate--she was on the Today show! (I didn't see it but saw the link to the video on here somewhere, your story was AMAZING!0 -
I follow the MFP program.....so whatever calories it says to eat I do that. I work out a lot (1-2 hours a day 6 days a week) a mix of cardio and strength training.
I eat whatever I want, mostly healthy stuff though (we all know what is healthy and what isn't) I haven't had fast food in over a year, I don't really eat any sugar, keep my fats low, high fiber, take protein shakes after I work out, drink LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER (as in 4-5 litres every day aka a gallon+ a day), I do allow myself a treat night 1x a week usually.
That's it.0 -
Yup, no special exercise plan or particular diet. Just keeping a calorie deficit going and getting a minimum of 30 minutes (but often more) of moving my body through running, walking, bicycling, yoga, 30-Day Shred, Elliptical.... Variety is the key to avoiding burnout.0

Not eating more than your calorie goal
exercising more.
It really is that simple0 -
eat less, move more......0

1200 calories a day, working out 3 days a week.0

I'm not an expert by any means, but here's my 2 cents!
Unfortunately, if there's anything I learned from reading posts here on MFP about what to do, what not to do, what's worked for someone, what hasn't worked, etc., it's that there is virtually NOTHING that is a steadfast rule for everyone as far as losing weight goes. (For instance, some people will tell you cardio is best for burning fat, others will say strength training is. Some will say you cannot eat any processed foods, red meat, dairy, etc., and others will say as long as you can fit it into your calorie allowance, go for it.) There are general guidelines, but what works for one person is not necessarily what's going to work for you. In fact, you might do everything right and follow someone else's success strategies, and get absolutely no results...or negative results. The best thing you can do is try to eat healthy, exercise (Find your "magic number". For me, it's at least 45 minutes, but preferably close to an hour. Oh, and find something you actually ENJOY doing, so you know you can commit! If you're like me and not particularly innately fond of exercise in general, this is crucial!), and track your food as honestly as you can. Just remember that EVERYTHING on here is an estimate. There's really no way to 100% guarantee the authenticity of how many calories you've burned, values of what you're eating, etc. There are too many variables. So just do your best and relax. I do understand your wanting to know what someone did to get a rockin' body, though. My advice for that would be to try to find someone with a very similar bodytype, same gender and same age range, and see what they've done. Otherwise, it's more of a crapshoot whether or not what someone else did will help you or not.0 -
Oh yeah, and of course tons of water as everyone else already mentioned (I've cut out both regular and diet soda...regular for obvious reasons, but diet also because it leads to bloat), and sleep is important. You lose more weight if you consistently get enough quality sleep than if you don't. Fiber is pretty huge, too. If you're not getting enough and not pooping as much as a result, that will show up both on the scale and when you measure. But if you increase fiber intake you should also increase water intake as well or else it has trouble moving through the body. Obviously, there are a few things that are pretty universal to losing weight/being healthy, but for most things: Don't let anyone discourage you by trying to convince you of anything black and white. Listen to your body, and it will tell you what you need to do. It takes a little while, sometimes of not losing while you're figuring out what your unique body requires, but it's worth it!0

I think most people tell you a little about how they did it in their success posts but it's difficult to apply the same thing to everyone. You have to adjust your workout and eating programme until you find one that suits you.
I started off eating salad and soups and oatcakes pretty much all day and exercising like mad but I lacked energy severly! So I started on MFP and tracked everything carefully, drank plenty of water and got loads of exercise.
It is really a much easier formula than you think to losing weight. It is sticking to it that is the hard part as it is not a quick process.0 -

Agree. I was over for all of March and I still lost, just not as much.0 -
I read ingredients, drink a lot of water and snack throughout the day instead of big meals. South beach diet plan helped me a lot!0
