After my bridal shower yesterday, my mom told me that numerous people had come up to her and commented on my loss. Rationally, I know I've lost a bunch of weight, but when I see myself every day, sometimes it's hard to see the real difference. So last night, I created a side-by-side of pictures from Christmas and my bridal shower. I was shocked. I don't fully remember looking that unhealthy, and I definitely never realized how heavy my fiance had gotten. I guess that had just become our "normal." Looking back, that makes me kind of sad.
We started this journey on December 28, 2010. In the three and a half months since then, I have lost 41 pounds, and my fiance has lost 44 pounds, for a combined 85-pound loss! I am so incredibly proud of him, and I'm pretty darn proud of myself, too. I've struggled with weight my entire life, but this time around it really feels like something has clicked. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: MFP is not a diet; it's a lifestyle change.
I'd be remiss, though, if I didn't give credit where credit is due. So, thank you to all of my MFP friends. Your constant optimism, humor, strength, and support has been invaluable to me throughout this process. Each of you inspires me every day, and I know that I couldn't have done this without you!
