Hi,

So as you can see, I weigh 127.4 pounds right now and I am 5 foot 3. My mini goal is to be at 116 pounds and eventually go down to 112.

Since I don't have much to lose, I have heard people say that I should not be on MFP setting of losing 1 pound a week because I will plateau. But rather, I should set my setting to lose 1/2 pound a week.

I would prefer to lose weight quickly but what do you guys think is the best? I work out about 5 times a week (i try) and if I were to stay at 1 pound a week, I would only be able to consume 1260 calories a day.

Thanks!

Definitely go for 1/2lb a week... as you only have a little weight to lose, the quicker you lose the weight, generally the quicker it will come back on when you arent as strict with the dieting/exercising.

I started at 142lbs and am now 134lbs aiming for 120lbs and below... I am on 1200 cals a day (most of the time!) and exercise 5 times a week without fail (sometimes more). It took at least a month before any weight at all dropped off. I started end of Jan and i think it wasnt until March when i noticed the difference.. now the weight is coming off around 1 - 1.5lbs a week!

It will take a while to notice any different as you are already a healthy weight, but id say take your time and dont cut out too many calories!!! You DEFINITELY need 1200 a day to do this properly x

Most people say that as long as your calories are 1200 net (including exercise calories burned) then you should see a steady weight loss. good luck! :)

Slower is better- I'm at 140 trying to get to about 125-130 (I am also 5'3") but at 5'3", 112 is distinctly underweight. You may want to reconsider your goal.

Try setting to the two and see the difference. At your weight and goal weight ---- and the fact MFP will set you at a minimum 1200 calories. I'm guessing it isn't going to make a difference what your settings are at - you'll be 1200 calories.

Actually, once you are in a healthy weight range, you should be eating rougly your BMR calories + your exercise calories to be properly fueling your body at a deficit.

    Thanks everyone.

I decided to up my net calorie intake to 1330 and see what happens. If it seems too low, I will bring it up to 1400.

I just want to make sure I do this right and not mess it up you know? haha

Sorry, should have said a minimum of 1200 net :)
