WANTED: Inches gone!

Hello! I need a bit of advice... I want to lose inches from everywhere and am not sure what road to take.
I have been doing the elliptical machines, but my results are not satisfactory.
I am wondering if doing weights instead would be a better approach.
Please lend your advice, thank you! :drinker:

Incorporate some strength training. Whatever you can do even stuff around the house. It will help, but keep doing the elliptical as well. & make sure you eat healthy and withing your calories:)0

Cardio is great for the fast burn to lose weight, but you will lose muscle too. Strength training is fantastic because you'll burn calories while working out and increase muscle mass which will increase your over all metabolism. If you only do cardio, you will become what a lot of people call "skinny-fat".
I am doing this program as it's fast, simple, and works:

I have lost over 80 lbs with my spin class, but I am switching exclusively to strength training to get rid of the last of the fat.0 -
Ditch the Eliptical and do Interval Training, High Intensity Interval Training, and/or Metabolic Resistance Training. My preference is Metabolic Resistance Training. You can find stuff on it in my blog http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/rileysowner
Have a look here also for the rational for ditching long duration steady state cardio http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/213976--the-final-nail-in-the-cardio-coffin0 -
You need a cobination of weights AND cardio.... for overall success.
If you just do cardio, sure you'll burn fat but your muscles below wont be toned and defined. Making you look flabby. Weight training will actually BOOST your fat loss because muscle burns more fat while at rest, so you'll burn more overall.
Also, try changing up your cardio routines... if the ONLY thing you are doing is the elliptical (though fantastic and a personal favorite) your body will become bored and won't produce results. Try the bike, or treadmill, even a stairstepper. Anything to confuse your body!
Hope this helps!0 -
I alternate cardio and strength training. Cardio is a must to drop the pounds and inches. I run and do cardio videos to change it up and always keep my body guessing what I'm going to challenge it with next.0

I think that you should switch from strength building to cardio!
Put down the weights and go for a run instead!
If your doing strength training then the muscles you gain will just make you heavier.
So even if you are looseing fat you wont be able to tell weight wise.0 -
thank you, i have been slacking with in-putting my foods, but have stayed on track as far as what i am eating!0

sorry but this is not true. gaining muscle tone added in with cardio with help in losing inches. If looking better is your goal then worry about how you look and feel in your clothes. The weight will come off too if you add in some strength. muscles will not make you heavier.0 -

Im sorry if i'v given false information.
It's just i'v always been told by everyone that muscle's weigh more than fat.
And that gaining muscle's makes you heavier.
It might not be true..
but when i start to see muscle growing i notice i get a little heavier.
I will have to do some research into it lol.0
