Here's the question: what is something you have accomplished that you HAVE never before accomplished before MFP?

Here's mine: I made cookie dough and didn't eat any of the dough! NONE. This is something I NEVER could have done before MFP. I made 160 cookies at 28 cals each. If you're curious - it's because I put them onto the sheet in rounded teaspoonfuls and they came out to the size of Nabisko vanilla wafers. I'm baking them for all my students/colleagues.

When I got hungry while I was baking them, I had a banana (tangy, slightly sweet and texture like ice cream) and a handful of carrots (crunchy and sweet goodness). I feel so silly, yet I feel like Superman! The rest of the week, I have lots of temptation to face (3 going away parties... another batch of cookies to make... a sleepless night in an airport) - but hey the week is off to a good start!

That's a GREAT accomplishment. Dont' know if I could do it. My best was running 2 1/2 miles non-stop. Running (and I use the term loosely; it's more like a leisurely jog) is SO hard for me, but I like doing it because it gives the best results. I've been trying to build up to a 5K; not there yet but getting closer...congrats!

That's great, I know I couldn't bake cookies without eating the dough, great job! I'll work on that in time, right now since i'm just starting this journey I'm working on keeping my calories in check first along with getting my workouts in every day. Then I'll work on beating the temptations in my life!

MFP is such an awesome tool for this! I like your attitude. One thing at a time, Just starting to keep track of everything is something I never did before MFP :)

That is good! I make cakes for ppl as a hobby and it's really hard not to eat the pieces I trim off to assemble the cakes. I make my own buttercream too and I have to fight off temptation by putting all of my utensils directly into the warm water...take that buttercream temptation ;)

Making cookies and not eating them is really really really hard to do. Pretty amazing feat. :O)
  • Before mfpI didn't have the confidence to eat a chocolate bar in front of a bunch of people for fear of them thinking "she doesn't need that!" (pretty ridiculous of me I know) but the other day I got a three musketeers and ate it in a crowded hallway thinking to myself "they probably all wonder how I stay so thin and eat candy bars!" (kinda vain) but I rather be over confident than hiding from food.

When I started this process I went to the gym and could barely walk from the parking lot to the actual gym. Logged a very slow 2 minutes on the elliptical. Now on a typical morning I can do at least 45 minutes of intense elliptical work, followed by 2 45 minute fitness classes like turbo kick & total body workout. Never thought I'd be strong enough to handle that kind of workout, or have desire to. I love, love, love exercising now!

Along the same lines, people at the gym ask me, the former fat chick, for advice on dieting and exercise.

I can keep junk food in the house on the weekends that my stepkids are here and, for the most part, ignore it. Not a 100 % successful every weekend but previously I would have had to buy something for them on a daily basis because after they went to bed, I would finish up whatever treats were left in the house. Now I may have one cookie or one brownie on the weekend, even one each day BUT build it into my calorie count.
