Also, did any other ladies start out with 20# weights?? How heavy will i go from here if I can start with 20's???

So I want to know what beginning weights people usually start this at and where I should be prepared to go from 20# dumbbells. Maybe I should do this with resistance bands to mix it up from what I have been doing....?

You will need a mixture of weights. If u haven't watched the 1st workout video, do.That way u can see how many times u will need to switch weights. The heaviest I used the 1st day was 15. The lowest was 5lbs. On burn intervals my lowest used was 3lbs and my highest was 5lbs.

I just took the adjustable weights I purchased from Sears back on Saturday so now I'm waiting on my Bowflex to arrive. If you need a partner I will start again this week so we can be on the same schedule.

I begin week 2 today and have been using the bands. I want to get weights soon as I think it would be easier to gauge how you're progressing through the stages. It's so hard to tell with the bands. Enjoy! :flowerforyou:

Well, I have a workout room at my apt that I planned on going to and doing the videos. I think I will still need to get some smaller weights for certain things since they only have down to 10.s in there. What I am saying though is that my military press for my self eval was 20# at 12 reps.... so I wonder where I would go from THERE> eek! The weight room has weights to 50# but GEEZ! For my plyos with weights in my last circuit training program I used 5lbs so I am thinking for the lighter weight it would 5lbs but my slow curls to 12 was a 20lbs DB.
Shoot it sounds like I need to go to the store before I can even start. But I don't want to wait again! I may have to start Tomorrow. It would be awesome to have someone to follow along with.... I may actually need to take a week of off either phase 1 or 2 because of prior arrangements in 11 weeks and I don't want to lose a week of the last phase!

I am not in a place where I need to BUILD more muscle persay. Meaning I am most definitely not starting out with weights for the first time obviously lol BUT I will play it by ear.... and may alter things a smidge

I used a range of weights from 5 to 25 during the course of Chalean Extreme. Some moves I couldn't do with proper form with any weights at all! Good luck!

I'm looking to start for the first time, but I have been unsure of what weights I would need as well. I only have 3,5 and 8#s and no resistance bands.

Have you done the self evaluation?? I used 15# in the eval and it was too easy.

So I am not sure yet either.

You will probably need to up it to 25lbs. Thats the heaviest she lifts on the dvd and she isn't maxing out so she probably can go even higher. Yall are my sheros. I can't wait till I can lift like that with perfect form.

Lol thanks D, I have access to A pair of 25's but I will complete the 20's and work up from there I guess. I also have 3 different resistance bands that vary in resistance....i wonder if I would benefit from switch it up with resistance bands too, for leaning up....this gal is a smidge buff already! Haha. I just need to shed the fat and tone this damn skin!! ;) thanks for the support hun! I appreciate it! Send me a friend request so I can bug ya now and then. ;) I am out and about right now.... Enjoy the rest of your day! Thanks again to all of you for the feedback!
