I just finished day 2: level 1. WHOA! What a workout! My thigh muscles are SO tight! And I thought I was in good shape in my legs. I love how the exercises are simple--you don't have to think much about the movements.0
-
No shredding for me today. Work and then school. Definitely tomorrow!0
-
I did day 3 this morning at 5:30 am. I can't believe how tight my leg muscles are. I'm keeping with it though--I have a feeling I'll be seeing results before long!0

Can I join??
I started 30 day shred the weekend before last but I only got a 3 days in last week and my goal is 6. I'm hoping this will help motivate me!!!
I'm hoping to lost 10 lbs this month. (Starting this week)
Last week was my first week back on the bandwagon and I lost 3 so we'll see how it goes!!0 -

Shredding is the nick name we've given to working out to Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred video.
It's 27 minutes long and it's a great combination of both cardio and strength. All you need are some light hand weights and a mat if you're working out on a hard surface.
There are 3 levels and you move up the levels when ever you feel like you can.
You can get it at books stores and amazon.com for like $12.
It's a really great workout!!0 -
So you do level 1 for 30 days, then on to the next level? If you do it, say 5 days week, then you just count each of those as a day, or the DATE as a day? So this week I would do 5 days, instead of say, 7?0

ok got a question:
I was going to do this 5 days a week, m-f, but after talking w/ my fiance, he said that if i'm working my muscles out sooo much i really need a day inbetween for them to "heal". And you know i'm thinking he's right, b/c the last two times i've done L1 i have been really sore the next day. which is great, don't get me wrong, but i'm thinking that to continue to work those same muscles w/o a break inbetween really isn't going to do anything but hurt me in the long run.
So what do you guys think??? I know there's cardio in there too, but really, must of it is strength, and i've always heard you need to do strength training every other day to re-coop your muscles. So i'm confused now, do i do it everyday and forget what most people say about a break, or do it everyother, which will take me longer, but will be better for my body? hopefully some of you will know the answer!
BTW: I've done 3 days so far, two days last week, and today. Still absolutely LOVING IT!
Thanks, Laura0 -
I didn't start on the 1st, too much going on. I did run 3 miles today, and did day 1, level 1. I have to say it was a great workout, I've done her 30 day Making the Cut, so I know her stuff, but after the marathons other than running a bit, I haven't lifted in like 3 weeks, so this was challenging!0

Laura that's a good question!0

Your muscles need that day between to repair. But I know that's true for weight lifting, I don't know if your workout is cardio or weights. Message songbyrdsweet on that one. Or....I'll be right back, I'll research the threads.
Ok, I'm baaack.

Instead of everyday doing the shred I do it on mon, wed and fri. that way i get a little bit of a break for my body and it seems to be working for me. :flowerforyou:0

Alright my first day down for Nov. It feels great. My husband does it with me and its just wonerful to have the support and the person to say you can do it. :flowerforyou: Also, my kids have been working out with us. They love it. :drinker:0

I'm so excited--most of my soreness is gone!!! I can again walk like a 29 year old and not a 92 year old! The body is an amazingly adaptable thing (I will do day 4 tonight!)0
-
Shredded last night!!
My endurance is certainly rising but I still can't get all the way through the thing without taking breaks. I can't wait until that day!
My muscles aren't sore at all today (again, yay body!) so I'm going to shred again tonight if I have enough time.
I have to go shopping tonight because i have an interview tomorrow and I don't have any good clothes since I had told myself I'd reward my weight loss with new clothes I haven't been shopping in QUITE a while. Lol
OH And I'm so mad. I will never again eat something without checking out the calories first.
I voted this morning so on my way to work I stopped at Brueggers for breakfast.
Uh. Worst idea i've ever had. My breakfast alone was over 800 calories. And all I had was a stupid bagel with egg, cheese and sausage and a juice!
I mean, seriously.
Ok. Done venting.
**Bruegger SUCKS** (teehee. just kidding.)0 -
It is CRAZY how fast calories add up.0

Can I join you? I shredded last night and today0

You can definitely join!
Ok, 11/4 and I shredded. 3 down, 27 to go. I did level 1 again but am trying to complete everything with 5lb weights.. Last time I tried level 2 and it was impossible with 5 lbs and there were more movements that aggravated my hip so I'm back to level 2 for a few more days.
My muscles are feeling it, too. It seems I do best if I do 2 day on and 1 day off, 3 days on at most.0 -
Keep going with the 5 lbs weights. That's what I'm using.0
-
I've completed day 5 this morning and to be honest, I can tell my endurance has risen a lot! The arm exercises are still pretty tough, but everything else is starting to get pretty easy. I'll be ready to move to level 2 on day 11.0
-
11/5 and I did level 3 again. That's 3 down and 27 to go. Everything feels like jello right now. I think I'll do level 2 tomorrow to give me a little break.0
-
Hello everyone!! I am on day 8 level 3.....my shoulders are sooo sore today, the good sore though!!0
-
Wow, I am impressed with you level 3 folks! Can't wait until I am ready for that challenge.0
-
I shredded with Level 1 Monday & did Level 2 this morning. Holy cow these are intense! My problem is though that I bought yet another calorie counter (my last 1 didn't have a heart rate monitor on it) & it says I've only burned like 50 calories after the shred. Could that be right? Other posts I've read they burn like over 100 & they have the same height & weight as me. On my HRM it says Kcal to show how many calories I've burned. What the heck is going on??0
