P90X Diet Question

Hey all, I just started P90X yesterday (just did Plyometrics for the first time today ... OUCH!), and had a question about the nutrition they suggest for Phase 1. I am having a hard time envisioning myself going the full 30/20/50 (carbs/fat/protein) breakdown they suggested, though looking at my diary from the past few weeks/months, the 40/20/40 seems reasonable.
Is not doing the EXACT nutrition breakdown they suggest going to severely hinder my results, or if I up my protein intake from approximately 20% to approximately 40%, will that be enough?
Also, feel free to poke around in my diary (open to all) and leave any suggestions you feel will help!
Thanks in advance everyone!

You'll just have to see if you get the results you want. I'm starting a 3rd round of P90X and now that I've got MFP I'm going to do the %'s they have for each phase. I've only got a few pounds to lose so Fat Shredder for this first month will be fine and then upping my carbs as I go.
If not doing fat shredder the way they have it works for you then just do that.0 -
40% protein seems reasonable, like you said. If you want to try for more protein then I would suggest supplementing with a protein shake. Some good shakes out there is Body Fortress by Wal-mart (52 grams from 2 scoops), Jay Robb protein, or BSN protein has a variety of great flavors (Vitamin Shoppe).0

If you have significant fat loss you want to accomplish, I would really try to hit the 50% protein during the first 4 weeks and then go back to the 40/40/20 plan that you follow for the rest of the program. If you are close to goal on fat loss, you are OK skipping Phase 1 and going to Phase 2. :-)

@Edorice: The 40% protein ration was including protein bars and protein drinks. Most of my meals and snacks are rather low in protein. When I first started I used the Body Fortress protein powder, and I think I'll start using it again.
@ElaineKatko: According to the formula that came with the P90X set I got, I have a body fat percentage of 19.72%, just a little above the high end of their "desired" range (which is 10-18). So really, I don't think I have THAT much to go. I'm just confused, because I want the results, but the idea of that much protein is honestly making me nauseated, lol.0 -
It's definitely a lot of protein so you have to get creative. The nutritional guide does help a bit with ideas. I'm glad Fat Shredder is only a month long because getting my carbs is much easier haha.0

Just try it and see how it goes. :-) I supplement with protein shakes as well, so it's not like you have to eat that much meat or fish.0
