    I found "Zen and the art of running" to be awesome. Also, ChiRunning is worth checking out, just don't get sucked into all of the evangelism stuff associated with it.

    Another vote for Born to Run by Christopher McDougall.

    Upon finishing it, you may feel the need to run barefoot and eat chia seeds :) But beyond that, it inspired me to run just for the fun and joy of it.

    Born to Run is great. You don't have to be "into" the whole barefoot running thing. I found the story to be spectacular.

    What I Talk About When I Talk About Running is another great book.
