Anybody else training to run their first half marathon? Mine is coming up at the end of may and I'm scared to death but excited at the same time! If you are training, what kind of training are you doing and how much running do you do in a week? Any advice from people who have ran their first one recently?

I haven't ran any races since last year, but I have ran countless 1/2s. If you have any questions, let me know. You are going to do great. Your first half will be so much fun. It's a great distance. Enjoy every step of it. :)

Thank you! How much should I be running each week do you think at this point?

Good luck on your first half! I walked my first one last year. My training consisted of 2 shorter walks & one long one each week. My total training lasted 16 weeks & I will use the exact same schedule to run my first one in November of this year.

    Hi!

Just ran my first in march. We trained in intervals ie Galloway method. I highly suggest it. All the info is free online- just google Jeff Galloway and pick what works for you! Also Livestrong.com is a really good source. You can also search the forums for 1/2 marathons and will probably find more threads than you can handle

Thanks for sharing, it's great to hear how others are training for these; for, I have no idea how to train for one. I just run, lol
