Just question to all the ladies out there. Do you like to weight train in the higher rep range, the lower, or in the middle? Just curious to hear what everyone likes to do!

I do super sets with lower weights that by the time I get to thew end of the set, I can barely do it. Super sets really get your heart rate going while toning/strength training. For example, I can do 10-15 reps for 3 sets with a 10lb dumbbell for shoulder flys but doing it with super sets, I do 3lb weights for 20 reps...those are killers.

Heavy weights, low reps for me. Usually 3X 8-10 with the last rep of the last set at almost failure.
Working my way up to heavier stuff! And no, I'm not bulky in any way.

i tend to be in the higher rep, lower weights range but im trying to incorporate more heavy weights w lil less reps at least a couple times a wk to change it up and hopefully confuse my muscles =)

Go with a good balance matey. 3 x 7-10 should be perfect for you. Remember once you can do 3 x 10, you up the weight next session, and continue with it until you hit 3 x 10 again...
if you can do more than 10, then its not heavy enough, if you cant 7 or 8 on first go, then its too heavy.

if you are trying to get a little stronger/build a little muscle, then 15 reps is not what you want.

Also, no such thing as muscle confusion. only mind confusion,
Your muscle's have no idea what you are lifting reps/sets wise, ALL they "know" is that they are being used to lift something...

But Tony Horton said it was all about the muscle confusion??? :P

On topic, I agree with Mideon.

A mix, low rep (6-10) heavier weights mostly and when I get to 3X10; I up it the next session. I love my muscles!

I do lower weight, resistance stuff around it too, like dumb bell punches, step ups with a barbell, lunges with a lat raise.

I used to do lighter weights and more reps but I've seen the light since reading some of the great threads on here about weight training. (relatively light people trying to get leaner etc)
So now I lift as heavy as I can - and do 3 sets of 8 reps.

I used to worry about getting big muscles but it's not happening! They are more defined but hardly any bigger and I like how I look. I've also definitely lost some body fat since I've been focusing more on bigger weights and not being scared of doing press ups

    :drinker: (imagine these as dumbells!)
