is a calorie, a calorie, a calorie?

Wight loss, for me, has been about math. My Daily RMR - 500 calories is a pound lost a week..
So I am thinking about those calories. Figure a Costco food court Cheese pizza slice has 700 calories. Eating the same caloric amount of Iceberg lettuce would be staggering.
So my question becomes are there "better" calories then others? Are peanut calories better for you then raisin calories?
Yes we need vitamin's, minerals, fiber etc. At the end of the day is it just another calorie to burn?
If anyone has any authoritative links on the subject, I would be interested. I am tired of googleing only to find akai berry info...

This is an interesting podcast about raw food calories vs cooking/processed calories.0 -
Just wanted to point out that your RMR should be a minimum of what you eat. Do not base your deficiet off of your RMR.,0

Of course the answer is, IT DEPENDS, if your only goal is to lose weight, then no, you can eat twinkies as long as you don’t go over your calories. If your goal is better “health” then yes it matters what you get your calories from. The end.0

A calorie is a calorie, BUT a fat is not just a fat. Some raise LDL and other HDL. As common sense tells us, unprocessed foods are going to be best for you. (just not always as tasty!)0
