is it not possible that you already have a flat stomach i.e. the muscles underneath are there but you need to reduce your over all body fat percentage?0
-
I would kill to have one too!!0
-
well i actually believe im around 18% body fat0
-
lol its not the body fat then!
too much sodium?0 -
Ok, this is an obvious question, but... Are you doing exercises that TARGET your tummy? Widdle your middle with GREAT ab workouts... Can't think of anything that would help more, especially since you are a good weight and don't have a CRAZY HIGH body fat %.....
Give P90X a try :drinker: Killer AB workout (and it's like 16 minutes... BRUTAL!!!!!) :bigsmile:0 -
you do not look like a pregnant woman. js0

What kandyjo said. P90x is no joke, if you follow the diet and exercise you’ll have all the abs u want in 90 days.0
-
18% isnt a lot?0

What are you doing to work the abs? If it's mainly things like crunches, which only work the upper abs, that could be the issue.
You want to focus on the lower abdomen if you are trying to get what most people call a 'flat stomach' which is really a flat lower abdomen.0 -
What are you eating?? 90% of six packs/flat tummies are made in the kitchen0
-
dont quote me on this but at one time i thought i heard to be able to see a "six pack" on a woman need to be below 18% and a man under 12% like i said not for sure but remember reading something to that affect. ps im really working towards one too!0

That is very true--no one can spot reduce. You can tighten up the muscles underneath any flab though and help to change your shape. I'm still carrying an extra 25 pounds, but I don't have a 'belly' or at least not a 'pooch'. The muscles underneath are fairly well-toned, so I don't have a pooch.
Do I have a 6 pack? Hell no! No, for that you need an extremely clean diet and very low body fat.
But even if you are still carrying some weight, you can tighten up the ab muscles.Lower ab work is what makes the difference in 'poochiness'. Clean diet and % body fat is the difference between a flat stomach and a 6 pack.

What sort of training do you do. Cardio won't do it. High Intensity Interval Training/Metabolic Resistance Training and diet are what you need to use. You need to get your body fat way down. Is it possible by summer, maybe, but it will take careful diet and hard workouts of the right type.0

you've got to reduce your overall bf % to see those abs.. it's true you can't spot reduce and if you're doing enough strength training better give a fair dose of cardio a run.. for men you actually have to have a bf% around 10 to see abs and for women 15%.. Unfortunately those are very athletic bf %.. especially when some peoples bodies have a propencity to store in certain areas (most of us around our truck, others around the hips/thighs).. so you may only be 18% bf but is likes to all camp out around the abd.
Cure? Cardio with strength and a lot of it..it's gonna take work but it's sooo doable! You can get a caliper to keep track too at home (gnc has some for like $20) to self track. hope that helped :bigsmile:0 -
right now i have a wrist injury and am recovering with that so im doing cardio and whatever weight training i can0

I have close to no idea about this stuff, but I'm hoping you don't drink a lot of beer or liquor??? I doubt you are if you're trying to get rid of your belly...
I do know from seeing a lotta guys routines and diaries on here that it seems to involve a lotta clean eating and a tonnn of hard work...
And also, with some people's genetic's they're just prone to put on more weight that's the most stubborn to get rid of in certain places...
Yet again these are totally just my thoughts from what I've seen/read/heard....So it's best to do a lotta research on it (although that can drive you crazy, and maybe a personal trainer? But I know those are so hard to afford)
Good luck though, don't get discouraged!!!0 -
thank you0

I actually lose weight around my middle first and I see better results IN THAT AREA when I do exercises that TARGET THOSE muscles... So, in a way, yeah, you can see some level of results with "spot training" ... just like defining your arms or legs with targeted exercise.... Common sense....
Of course, to reduce fat, your going to have to get in some cardio.... BALANCE is KEY... DIET IS CRUCIAL!0
